Copper Box Arena London

The handball Arena will be utilized for the London Olympics 2012. With the capacity of 7,000 seats, Copper Box was introduced in May 2011. Though the venue was build for the purpose of XXX Olympiad, but it has been decided that it will be used, after the games will come to an end. For the Olympics, 6 events will be held in the Copper Box which includes Handball, Modern Pentathlon and Goal ball. Aside the architecture, interior of the building is also very sensibly selected. Multi colors used in the interior will spread fresh vibes among spectators and the players. Seating available at Copper Box is retractable which provides flexible space.

    History:

    In July 2009 the construction was started, it took approximately two years to finish it up. It has been noticed that the copper cladding covering 3,000 sq meter length on the exterior portion of the building, is mostly recycled. So as the time will pass and the age of the building will increase, the recycled material used will portray a natural look. Auspiciously the construction was completed on time under the projected budget. Before the venue gets inaugurated for the London Olympics, it will be used for test events.

    What's inside the Copper Box?

    The quarterfinals along with the preliminary rounds of the Hand ball are decided to be scheduled at the Copper Box venue. Sessions of Fencing and the Modern Pentathlon will also take place here. For the Paralympics, this venue is thought to be used for the Goal ball. A warm-up zones is also constructed covering 1400 sq m space.

    Besides sports a moderate portion of area (13,700 sq) is kept for the media, security and catering provisions.

    After Olympics:

    When the games will end, this venue is thought to be used as a community center, venue for moderate sized events and athlete training center. The actual usage will be for indoor sports, like hand ball, basketball, martial arts, boxing, table tennis, rugby and volleyball. Besides sports provisions, a café will also be built along with a health and fitness club.

    How to Get There:

    By Tube:

    Stratford Under ground’s tracks are laid in the vicinity of the Olympics Park, where Copper Box is situated. Approximately 0.6 mile distance have to be covered in order to reach their. Take an exit from the station and commence through the Greenway Gate, keep on walking until you reach the Victoria Gate. Instead of going in through the Victoria Gate take a right turn and continue your walk. After few feet you will be able to view the venue.

    By Bus:

    Stratford, Stratford Bus Station (Stop A) is present in the vicinity of the tube station. You will have to follow similar route in order to reach at your desirable destination.
