A special educational session is conducted for school children which employs an actress in the role of Florence Nightingale who interacts with children, detailing the life of the great philanthropist. History
The Florence Nightingale Museum was founded in 1982 with a purpose to acknowledge and appreciate the remarkable services of the kind-hearted nurse in the Crimean War. The Crimean War was fought from 1853 to 1856 between Russia and a coalition of Britain, Ottoman empire, France and Sardinia. Her excessive involvement and care for the wounded soldiers rose her to fame and recognition and she was named the 'Lady with the lamp' because of her visits to the patients with a lamp in her hand. The Florence Nightingale Museum depicts how she, along with her team, dealt with the shortcomings of the miltiary hospital and her contribution to modern nursing practices. -

Tickets and Entry
The entry fee is GBP 5.80 for every adult and GBP 4.8 for every child. For family, it has a package of only GBP 16 (two adults and up to 5 children). -

The museum remains open all seven days a week with Good Friday, boxing day and Christmas being the exceptions. The opening times are from 10:00 hours to 17:00 hours. -

By Tube
Waterloo tube station is the nearest tube station from the museum. The 0.3 miles distance between them can be covered in 7 minutes. Head southwest on York Rd, cross Westminster Bridge road and get onto Lambeth Palace road / A3036.
