The Bank of England Museum London
The bank of England Museum holds a huge collection of historical items associated with the bank and is situated on the east banks of River Thames in Bartholomew lane. The museum covers a huge area of around ten thousand square feet. The Bank is divided into several parts; and the most prominent one of them are the reconstruction of the Bank’s building at the end of 18th century – an area known as the stock office. Stock office was the place where shareholders of the bank were supposed to come to get their profits or loss shares. This area also shows the reconstruction of the bank from its start to now, and specially covers the reconstruction after the war years. A good collection of pictures is also displayed there, which elaborates the history of the bank. Another section, which is called “The Bank Today” emphasises on modern day banking procedures using the help of technology. It provides inside and outside view of modern day banking. The Museum also holds a huge collection of historical coins, pictures, banknotes and original gold bars. This sort of collection grabs attention of most of the people to visit the museum.

History of Bank of England Museum
Before 1986, the bank had a small section of its collection and one had to book an appointment to visit that section. In 1986 the bank decided to provide open access to these collections for greater audience. That was the time when planning of the museum started. The initial intended opening date for the museum was in 1994, but when in 1986 a fire struck the building, the plan was changed. The bank started the construction of a new building immediately and it was completed in 18 months. Then in 1988, the Queen inaugurated the new building. -
