10 Tips to Get Organized Now

1) Start with a plan. Make a plan you know you can comfortably follow, schedule enough time to do a set task, and stop when you are done, if you don’t over do it, it will be easier to come back to.

2) Get all of your tools together before you start, a notebook and pen are very helpful, totes, bins, drawers and other such products will help you separate items.

3) Divide your items into categories, such as: give away, put away, sell, and trash.

4) Get rid of the things you don’t need, an example would be the closet, if you have not worn it for a year, get rid of it. That is a common rule, used by personal organizers.

5) Stay on top of clutter, the more organized you stay the less you will have to worry about searching for things in the future.

6) Some people get so organized that they have a notebook or other source of inventory on where items in the house belong.

7) Keep phone numbers, and other emergency information in an easy to find place, like the on the refrigerator, or near the phone. If there ever is an emergency you will not have to worry about getting the correct information.

8) When shopping for furniture, or clothing, choose pieces that are multi-functional. Such as a coffee table that you can store items in, or a pair of black pants or shoes that you will be able to wear often.

9) Being organized, is easier when your home is less cluttered. Therefore, when you are going out to shop, go for a reason, for something specific. Just going to look can be dangerous to your decluttering.

10) Keep good records, file the papers you get in the mail, and shred the junk that has your address on it. Throw away the garbage that comes in the mail, and keep your identity safe.
