5 Popular Annual Summer Events in San Diego
Number 5- Screen on the Green in Balboa Park
For the past 5 or 6 years the San Diego Art Museum located in Balboa Park has sponsored an annual summer even called Screen on the Green. This event usually occurs late June or early August and involves a movie showcase that is shown on the lawn next to the museum. The movies are usually played every Thursday and starts after sunset. People that come to watch the movies usually bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets, food, drinks, and smiles. This event is for all ages and is very good for a family outing, friends getting together or even a romantic date.
Number 4 – Humphreys Concerts by the Bay
Do you enjoy live music orchestra style? This next event is also very popular in San Diego during the summer. This event includes out door night concerts that are sponsored by Humphreys and shown in a grassy area right next to the bay and harbor. This classy event can be for youth or adults. People who purchase concert tickets receive a great view, wonderful music and live entertainment, good food, and a wonderful summer night. What else can you ask for in San Diego?
Number 3 – Del Mar Fair
Every summer starting in June the Annual Del Mar County Fair happens in San Diego. This event attracts thousands and thousands of people and goes until the 4th of July. If you have never been to a fair and are going to be in San Diego this summer you should definitely go to the Del Mar Fair. This fair offers a variety of things that will satisfy all the members of you’re family. The fair offers great shows, live entertainment, contests, kid events, animals, displays, great fair food, music, concerts, carnival, rides, games, vendors, and so much more that you need to see it yourself. The tickets for admission to the fare are decent and inexpensive. This is an event that you could go to more than once during the summer.
Number 2 – The Annual San Diego Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Parade and Festival
This diverse unique event happens every year usually either the second or third week of July. This event caters to people who identify with or support the LGBT community. This event celebrates pride in same sex orientations and different sexual identity orientations. During this weekend there are many parties and events that occur. The two main events are the Parade which usually happens on Saturday, and the Festival is both on Saturday and Sunday. During the parade different businesses and organizations march and celebrate their pride and participation. At the festival there are performers, live music, shows, vendors, booths, dance stages, food, and other activities that cater to the diversity within the LGBT community.
