Reschedule Interview Email
There are times when a person has to cancel important meetings due to one reason or another. It is not an ideal situation but sometimes it becomes impossible to avoid a cancellation. In such a situation, you should ideally send an email to the other party, especially if you were to show up for a commitment.
If you have a job interview that you had to attend but can’t due to any reason, you should email the organisation to inform them and request a reschedule.
Here we will show you how to write a reschedule interview email and will also provide a sample and template for reference.
Tips for Writing a Reschedule Interview Email
- Maintain an apologetic tone throughout your email
- Explain why you can’t or couldn’t make it to the scheduled interview
- Justify your reason with an appropriate explanation
- Request a reschedule and offer full cooperation before signing off

Sample of a Reschedule Interview Email
Dear Mr. Joseph,
My name is Adrian Walters and I was to have an interview at your prestigious organisation for the position of junior programmer on Monday, May 14th, 2014. Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend the interview at the above mentioned date due to some unforeseen reasons.
I had a car accident that left me with a hairline fracture in my shin and the doctors have advised me to rest for a few weeks. I should be back to my normal routine in three weeks time and will be able to work as per normal conditions. Doctors believe that putting stress on the leg at this point in time can further aggravate the injury.
I would like to request that you allow me to have my interview at a later date so that I can have another chance to work for your organisation. I will be looking forward to your positive response.
Regards,
Adrian Walters -
