How to Spiff Up Your Jenny Craig Food Penne Pasta

    Tastes Like Homemade Sauce:

    Total time: 10 - 12 min
    Yields: 1 jar

    Ingredients:
    Spaghetti sauce: 1 jar
    Chopped Onions: 1 cup
    Olive oil: 2 tsp
    Tomatoes: 2
    Parsley: 2 tbsp

    Preparation:
    In a heavy bottomed pan, sauté one cup of chopped onions in two teaspoons of olive oil for 3 to 5 minutes or until very soft. Now add two teaspoons of freshly minced garlic, two seeded and finely chopped tomatoes and spaghetti sauce and toss to combine. Also add 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, basil or oregano and simmer for a couple of minutes to blend flavours. Toss this sauce with freshly prepared Jenny Craig Food Penne Pasta and serve hot.

    Sicilian-Style Sauce:

    Cook time: 5 - 7 min
    Total time: 10 - 12 min
    Yields: 1 jar

    Ingredients:
    Spaghetti sauce: 1 jar
    Golden raisins: ¼ cup
    Balsamic vinegar: 1 tbsp
    Parsley: 1 tbsp
    Toasted pine nuts: to taste

    Preparation:
    In a saucepan, combine your store bought plain spaghetti sauce with 1/4 cup golden raisins, one tablespoon balsamic vinegar and a pinch of sugar. Set the pan over the stove and heat gently until raisins are plumped. Add fresh parsley (finely chopped) and a few toasted pine nuts to the mixture and combine thoroughly. Toss this sauce with freshly prepared Penne Pasta and chickpeas and serve hot.

    Puttanesca Sauce:

    Prep time: 5 min
    Cook time: 5 - 7 min
    Total time: 12 - 15 min
    Yields: 1 jar

    Ingredients:
    Spaghetti sauce: 1 jar
    Roasted red peppers: ¾ cup
    Green olives: to taste
    Drained capers: to taste
    Parsley: to taste

    Preparation:
    Stir 3/4 cup chopped roasted red peppers, some drained capers and a few sliced green olives into the sauce. Stir in freshly chopped parsley and season the sauce with crushed red pepper flakes. Toss Puttanesca Sauce with penne pasta mixed with cannellini beans or cooked shrimp.
