Total time: 6 hrs 30 min
Yield: 6 servings
Utensils: crock pot, meat thermometer, whisk, mixing bowls (large and small), large serving platter

Ingredients:
Large eggs: 2
Milk: ¾ cup
Seasoned bread crumbs: 2/3 cup
Dried minced onion: 2 teaspoons
Salt: 1 teaspoon
Rubbed sage: ½ teaspoon
Ground beef: 1 ½ pounds
Ketchup: ¼ cup
Brown sugar: 2 tablespoons
Ground mustard: 1 teaspoon
Worcestershire sauce: ½ teaspoon

Instructions

  • 1

Break the two large eggs into an extra large mixing bowl.

  • 2

Use a whisk to beat the eggs until they become foamy.

  • 3

Whisk in milk, seasoned bread crumbs, dried minced onions and rubbed sage.

  • 4

Sprinkle the egg mixture with some salt and beat until it dissolves completely.

  • 5

Crumble the ground beef over the egg mixture and mix up well until it forms a thick moist paste.

  • 6

Now use your hands to shape the egg-beef mixture into a large round loaf and place it in a crock pot.

  • 7

Cover the crock pot with its lid and cook the mixture for a minimum of six hours or until the meat thermometer reads 160 °C (320 °F). An indicator of this point is that the beef mixture is no more pinkish in colour.

  • 8

In the mean time, take a medium mixing bowl and put the ketchup, brown sugar, ground mustard and Worcestershire sauce in it.

  • 9

Whisk the mixture until the sugar dissolves and forms a thick paste.

  • 10

Remove crock pot’s lid after six hours and spoon the ketchup mixture over the meat loaf.

  • 11

Cover the crock pot again and cook it for another 15 minutes.

  • 12

Turn off stove’s heat and let the meat loaf stand for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • 13

Place the cooked meat loaf on a large serving platter and slice it, using a sharp knife.

  • 14

    Serve immediately and enjoy.
