Difference Between Transmitter and Transducer

Transmitters and transducers are two devices that are often discussed in physics. A transmitter is a device which operates by creating electromagnetic waves, which are correspondent to the signal which it has been given. On the other hand, a transducer is any component which changes one form of energy into another form of energy. Both of these devices are used in a lot of common household items, such as radios, mobile phones, etc.

A transmitter is basically a device which is created for one purpose. This purpose is to go on and emit electromagnetic singles, which correspond to the input which it has been given. However, transducers are devices which are used to transform one form of energy into another form of energy, for a number of purposes. This is the most basic difference between the two.

We also need to realize that transmitters are actually just a type of transducer.

Normally, transducers are used as measurement tools. However, transmitters can’t be used as measuring tools/devices.

Transmitters tend to not have any mechanical movements in them when they are working. However, transducers need mechanical movements to take place, since they are transforming the form of the energy which is being input into them.

    Transmitters

A transmitter is a commonly used device, which is a part of radios and a number of other wireless technologies which are used commonly. A transmitter, with the help of an antenna, goes on to produce radio waves, or electromagnetic waves.

Inside the transmitter, an alternating electric current is produced, which is often in the range of a normal radio frequency. When this signal is passed on/ picked up by the antenna, it then goes on to cause the radio to produce radio waves.

Transmitters are a type of transducer. This is because the antenna of the transmitter is a component of a transducer, since it goes on to covert electric energy into electromagnetic waves. Then, the antenna of the receiver also works as a transducer, since it turns electromagnetic waves into electric waves.

    Transducers

Transducers are basically just about any component, or device which can be used to convert one form of energy to a different form of energy, from the original one which was supplied to it. Some examples of common transducers are microphones, light bulbs, solar panels, etc.

Transducers are also commonly used as measuring devices.
