Barbecue (BBQ) Chicken Meatballs recipe is easy and the dish is popular among all age groups. It makes a wonderful hot appetizer for various parties and can also be served as a main meal in the form of rich saucy meatballs subs. Either way, it is a great recipe for your guests and family. Best of all, these delicious meatballs don't take much time for preparation and cooking, and are fairly economical.
Ingredients
  • Ground chicken - 1 pound
  • Bread crumbs - ⅔ cup
  • Large egg - 1
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Small onion (grated and drained) - 1
  • Paprika (optional) - ½ tsp
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Apple sauce - 2 tbsp
  • Extra virgin olive oil - 2 tbsp
  • Barbecue sauce - 1 cup
Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix up ground chicken and bread crumbs.
  2. Break one large egg into the chicken mixture and sprinkle it with chili powder.
  3. Add in the grated and drained onion, paprika and some salt to taste.
  4. Drizzle in apple sauce and mix the ingredients until a uniform meat mixture is formed.
  5. Use your hands to make small or medium meatballs and arrange them on a large plate.
  6. Pour the extra virgin olive oil into large skillet or frying pan and set it on stove with medium heat.
  7. Once the olive oil is warm, place the meatballs in it and fry them for 10 to 12 minutes or until cooked through and deep brown from all sides.
  8. Now drizzle the barbecue sauce over the meatballs.
  9. Cook it for approximately 2 minutes or until the sauce reduces and sticks to the meatballs.
  10. Remove from heat and arrange the barbecue chicken meatballs on a large serving platter.
  11. Pour the remaining sauce mixture over the meatballs and garnish with green fresh herbs – if you like.
  12. Serve warm. These meat ball are best consumed with bread, but can also be eaten with rice.
