Top 10 Memorial Day Songs

Formerly known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a federal holiday that is celebrated on the final Monday of May every year in the United States of America. It is a day when the whole nation remembers the men and women who died while serving in the armed forces.

Many singers and bands have sung songs to honour the men and women who did not hesitate to put their own life on the line and eventually make the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of the country. Some of these songs that pay respect to the national heroes are truly memorable.

    After visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington DC, The Statler Brothers’ Fortune was inspired to write this song as a tribute to the sacrifice of the soldiers who laid down their lives for their country.
