Racism is anything that is said or implied on the apparent differences of a person or society. In general, racism is limited to the offensive comments against the skin, colour and ethnicity of a person. However, in broader terms, it reflects to the act of being biased about someone’s views on a particular topic. Nowadays, more and more human rights group and activists are becoming involved in spreading awareness about racism. The most probable reason for that is to eliminate the differences and hatred amongst each other. Undoubtedly, racism can result in extreme hatred and can turn into violence.

Do not stay silent
If someone has made a racist comment about your race, colour and ethnicity, it is of utmost importance that you should not stay silent and respond with something appropriate. Staying silent at these times implies that you agree with the point; thus, you must come up with a logical and reasonable answer. You should never step down and be prepared to speak against such comments. -

Guve counter arguments and be a role model
When you enter such a discussion, you should not forget that you are representing your community and nation. Therefore, it is of immense importance that you act as a role model for your race and ethnicity. Remember that a lot of people will be observing the conversation and if you act properly, you can be an inspiration to others. Your arguments and experiences will not only counter racism but it can also educate others in tackling a similar situation. -

Respect the differences and promote the message
You should be able to respect the differences among all races and ethnicities but remember that none of these differences prove any race to be superior over the other. This is something you should believe in and also propagate the message to the people around you. -

File a complaint
If the matter has gone beyond your hands and you cannot tolerate any of this, then you must file a complaint against this. Note, in such cases, a person become a victim of institutional racism and has the power to file a civil right complaint.
