How to Catch a Lizard with a Trap

Lizards are often seen making their way into homes from the yard. If you have seen multiple lizards roaming across the walls of your home, you will need to try and trap the lizards. You can simply use traps meant for small rodents to easily catch lizards. However, keep in mind that handling lizards roughly will prompt them to bite you. For this reason, be sure to dispose off any lizards you happen to catch with care.

One of the most common hiding places for lizards is the area around the baseboards of the home heating system. That is where you will need to set the glue board traps. If you often see lizards lurking outdoors at a particular spot, set a few glue board traps there as well. As soon as the lizards set foot on the glue board trap’s sticky surface, it will get stuck, making it very easy for you catch it.

Lizards prefer areas with lots of light even though they are nocturnal creatures. This is mainly because insects, which are commonly found near light sources, serve as food for them. For this reason, it will be wise to keep areas where you set the traps well lit so that any insects in your house will be attracted to those areas. However, you can turn off the lights at night before you go to sleep.

If you plan to tidy up areas with heavy growth of grass around your house, it will be a good idea to wait until you have caught the lizards. This is because lizards prefer such spots to live and hide because of a promising food supply of bugs and insects. Set a number of traps in such spots and check them regularly for any lizards that get stuck.

As soon as a lizard gets immobilised on a glue board trap, take the trap to an area far from your house. To free the lizard so that you can use the trap for catching more, apply a few drops of vegetable oil to the lizard’s feet. The lizard will immediately come off. Bring the trap back home and set it again for catching more lizards.
