You will need a few simple costume items that are fairly inexpensive.

Things Required:

– Blue dress or jumper
– Mismatched knee-high socks
– Old shoes
– Wire hanger
– Red hair dye
– Brown eyeliner pencil
– Stuffed toy monkey (optional)

Instructions

  • 1

Invest in a bright patterned jumper adorned with patches and dress in it. For a more real Pippi Longstocking costume look, you would want to purchase an old suit if possible. Apart from the jumper, you will also need a turtleneck of any desired colour. Wear the turtleneck underneath the jumper.

The socks you choose should be mismatched in colour, knee high and fairly old. Same holds true for the pair of shoes. For a Pippi Longstocking costume, you can use a pair of cracked boots or faded clogs. Irrespective of the type of shoes you choose, make sure they are big and chunky.

Tie your hair into two braids on the side of your head. In order to make the braids stick out, slide a straightened wire hanger through the braids. Use a red hair dye to change the colour of your hair. Without the red braids, a Pippi Longstocking costume would remain incomplete.

Use a brown eyeliner pencil to make fake freckles on the entire surface of your nose. For a more genuine look, make limited number of large freckles instead of a large number.

Finally, you will need a stuffed toy monkey. Visit a local stuff toy store, choose the stuffed toy monkey and perch it on your shoulder. This will complete the Pippi Longstocking costume and you will stand out from the rest of the character fans.
