How to Make Homemade Dishwashing Detergent

There are many products that one uses everyday as a matter of routine. These are an important part of our life and it will be hard to complete daily chores without these products. Dish washing detergents are one of those items.

Although these are easily available  in the market and mostly at reasonable prices, it is possible to make these at home without much hassle and expense. This will also give you a chance to experiment a little with the scent. With the right ingredients, you will soon be having your very own home made dish washing detergent.

Things Required:

– 1 Cup Borax
– 1 Cup Washing Soda
– 1/2 Cup Citric Acid
– 1/2 Cup Kosher Salt
– White Vinegar
– Air Tight Plastic Container
– Measuring Cup

Instructions

  • 1

    Assemble the Ingredients

The first step of the process is to assemble all the ingredients in one place. Generally these ingredients are available quite easily in the market and for really low and great prices, thus making your detergent extremely price effective.

  • 2

    Measure the Ingredients

The next thing to do is to take out your measuring cup in order to accurately measure all your ingredients. Accuracy is good in this regard, although even if there are small discrepancies, it will not make a world of difference to the eventual product.

  • 3

    Mix Borax and Washing Soda

Take out a cup of borax and washing soda and add the two to the air tight container. Mix them well by shaking them together in the container for a while. Make sure that the container is sealed when you mix the two, as you do not want the contents to be flying to every part of the room as well as into your mouth and eyes, which can be pretty annoying and messy at the same time.

  • 4

    Add Other Ingredients

Now add citric acid and kosher salt to the solution and once again shake it well in order to mix all the ingredients together.

Once the mixing is done, your detergent is ready for dish washing. You can add a pinch of white vinegar before you add the detergent to the dishwasher. A table spoon is generally more than enough for this purpose.
