First, you will be required to spray your prime rib using balsamic vinegar or fresh water. Next, consider applying a thin coating of rock salt to the prime rib. The amount of salt applied on the meat depends on your personal taste.

Prepare your electric or gas oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Most gas ovens will require 10 to 15 minutes to reach that temperature. Put your prime rib in the oven but do not forget to wear safety gloves when performing this task to avoid burning your skin.

The traditional method of checking if the rib is evenly cooked is to examine the internal temperature of the meat. If the internal temperature is 105 degrees or more, the prime rib is likely to be ready. Make sure the internal temperature of the rib does not exceed the 120 degree mark or your meat will be too dry.

Remove the prime rib from the oven and place it on a medium sized tray. Next, remove the salt layer from the top of the prime rib. Inset a thermometer in the meat and you will notice a steep rise in the temperature of the prime rib. Wait for the temperature to drop before cutting the meat.
