How to Make Egg Rolls with Rice Paper

Making egg rolls is not a tough task at all, especially if you have the egg roll wraps available at your home. However, there can be a situation, where you don’t have access to the latter ingredient at home and have to serve the egg rolls to the guests, who are waiting in the dining room.

Such a situation can be quite embarrassing, but you don’t need to worry about that, as the egg rolls can be made with the help of rice paper too. It seems impossible, as the rice paper is so crisp that it cannot be rolled. However, there is an easy method, which can be used to make it softer in order to serve your purpose.

Utensils: Frying pan, Spatula, Plates, Kitchen towel paper, Bowl, Stove

Ingredients:
Rice paper (available at most grocery stores): 18
Cabbage cut into thin slices: about 1/2 of a head
Sprouts (optional)
Onions: 1
Carrots in thin slices: 2
Vegetables or beef, seafood (shrimp) (optional)
Soy sauce to season: 1 tsp
Garlic powder to season: 1/2 tsp
Peanut or vegetable oil (to cook): 1/2 cup
Egg (beaten/ whisked): 1
Ginger Root  (optional): 1 small
Chopped green pepper: 1/2

Instructions

    Preheat the pan

    If you are in a hurry, it will be ideal to preheat the frying pan on high flame. Make sure to put some oil in the pan before you light the flame.

    Mix the ingredients

    Take a large bowl and mix all of the ingredients in it one by one. You can add the seasonings at this stage too, but remember not to experiment too much, as that could spoil the taste of your recipe.

    Prepare the rice paper

    Dip rice paper in a bowl filled with warm water. You will notice that it will get softer within one minute time. Gently remove it from the water and place it on a plate. Repeat the same process with as much rice papers as you need.

    Start the filling process

    Start filling the rice paper with the egg mixture you had prepared earlier in a separate bowl. Once you are done with filling, wrap the rice paper around, so that nothing comes out of it.

    Fry the egg rolls and serve

    You can now fry the egg rolls and serve them to the guests.
