How to Cook Veg Biryani Rice

Veg Biryani Rice are one of the most popular traditional dishes in India and making it may requires expertise. The dish comprises of a mixture of rice and vegetables, but the Indian spices make it unique from any other dish in the world.

Utensils: Pressure cooker, mixing bowls, knife, wooden spatula

Ingredients:
Ghee: 5 tablespoons
Ginger garlic onion paste: 3 tablespoons
Mixed spices powder: 2 tablespoons
Fresh green chilli and coriander leaves paste: 3 tablespoons
Basmati rice: 3 cups
Carrots, Potatoes and Green beans diced: 3 cups
Oil: 1 cup
Salt: According to taste

Instructions

    Preheat the pressure cooker and add ghee and oil

    First of all, preheat the pressure cooker for a while on medium heat and add ghee and oil to it. Make sure the heat on the oven in not too high as that would burn the spices. Once the oil and the ghee are hot, cook the ginger garlic onion paste in the cooker for about two or three minutes.

    Add vegetables

    After frying the ginger garlic onion paste, add the diced vegetables to the pressure cooker and fry them for a good 5 minutes. This will ensure that the spices are absorbed by the vegetables.

    Add Basmati rice

    After stirring the vegetables for a while, you should add the Basmati rice to the cooker. Stir the ingredients in the cooker until the rice get evenly coated with the spices and the vegetables.

    Add chilli paste and water

    Now add the fresh green chilli and coriander leaves paste to the rice and also add about three cups of water. Slightly stir the mixture so that the rice and chilli paste are well combined.

    Place the lid on and wait for the whistles

    After you have added the water, close the lid of the pressure cooker. This is to ensure that the rice are in stream so that they are cooked nicely. You have to wait for three whistles after which you have to remove the lid. Three whistles would normally take about 20 minutes of your time.

    Serve when hot

    Make sure you serve the rice when they are hot as they will not provide the same taste when they cool down.
