How to Take the Perfect Portrait
Capturing any face with your camera is quite an easy task, especially because of the availability of some high resolution cameras in the market. However, only a professional will be able to tell you whether you have taken the perfect portrait or not.
No matter how good a camera you have, you will need to take care of a lot of things in order to get the perfect picture. The surroundings, light, background and a lot of other things should be kept under consideration, otherwise you will end up with an ordinary portrait rather than a special one which can be hung on your wall.
Things Required:
– Light deflectors
– Studio lighting (optional)

1
Pick a person to photograph
Firstly, you will need the right person to photograph. Once you know who the person is, you will be able to set the background and other things accordingly. If you don’t have any person available, you can consider asking a random stranger to pose for you (make sure the person is willing). -
2
Find the appropriate background
If you don’t have anything special, keep the background simple. You can choose some place outdoors in order to give a natural look, otherwise you will have to make some arrangements indoors, in order to create a special environment which goes with the person you are about to photograph. -
3
Position the person accordingly
No matter who you are photographing, you will have to do the placement perfectly. When capturing a person, place him/her a few feet from the backdrop. This way, you will be able to add more depth to the photograph and there won’t be any shadows ruining the image. -
4
Set up the camera
Once you have arranged the background and positioned the person according to your requirements, set up the camera at a comfortable distance. Use a tripod, especially if you are new to photography; if you don't, your hands will be shaky and you will be unable to capture the perfect image. -
5
Make sure the sun faces the person
You have to ensure that the sun is facing the person you are capturing with the lens of your camera. If you are indoors, you have to do proper lighting in the room. Moreover, set all of the other things like the focus, flash and shutter speed. -
6
Take the portrait
After you have made all the arrangements, take the portrait and get it developed. If you like it, you can get it framed.
