How to Decorate a Journal Book
Writing in a well decorated journal book everyday is much more enticing than writing in an ordinary one. There is no need to invest in an elegant journal for saving your memories on paper because even the simplest of composition notebooks can be decorated into a beautiful journal. However, the extent to which a journal book should be decorated would largely depend on the level of your personal satisfaction.
Things Required:
– Magazines
– Photos
– Scissors
– Glue
– Composition notebook
– Tape measure
– Self-adhesive laminating sheets
Instructions
-
1
Browse through as many old magazines as possible and cut out words and pictures that strike or move you in some way. If the journal book you are decorating would be a theme journal, cut out a few theme pictures and words.
-
2
Affix cut-outs from the previous step onto the journal’s cover with glue. It would be best to use only a bead of glue so that the cut-outs can be easily rotated, if required, before the glue dries.
-
3
Experiment as much as you like with the layout of the cut-outs and decide how you want them to be displayed on the cover of the journal. When you are satisfied with the positioning of the cut-outs, secure them in place by applying only a tiny amount of glue on the edges.
-
4
Set aside the journal for about 12 hours so that the glue can cure properly.
-
5
Determine the dimensions of your journal’s cover by either using a tape measure or by tracing the outline of the cover onto a piece of paper. Accordingly cut a self-adhesive laminating sheet, keeping it about 1 to 2 inches larger on all sides than necessary.
Peel off the protective backing and carefully place the sheet on top of the journal’s cover. Simply press the laminating sheet to set it in place. For a neat lamination, tuck in overlapping edges about 1 inch on the inside covers. -
6
Finally, use a pair of scissor to trim off the journal’s edges and obtain a neat finish.
