How to Clean a Tropical Fish Tank
Having a tropical fish tank is a great way to add some natural beauty to your room. Depending on the size of your tropical fish tank, keeping it clean can be quite tedious. To ensure that your fish have a healthy habitat, it is recommended to regularly clean your tropical fish tank. You can easily get the job done with some simple guidelines and a couple of tools.

– Tap Water
– Algae Brush
– Water Dechlorinator
– Bucket

Make sure that you remove all of the electrical systems that might be connected with your tropical fish tank. This includes the filter, heater, lights and any other items that are plugged in to a wall socket or an extension cable.

Now, use the aquarium vacuum and a large bucket to pump out the water from your tropical fish tank. Be sure to vacuum under the gravel to get out all of the dirty water. Place the hose in the large bucket so that all the dirty water flows downwards. You will want to take your time to make sure that the gravel is completely cleaned.

Once you have removed around 20 percent of the water from your tank, you will have to check the filter cartridge. It is best to replace the cartridge every month. If you want to reuse your cartridge then make sure to use some of the tank water to rinse it and save some of the good bacteria.

Remove the various decorations that you have in your tropical fish tank and gently clean them with the algae brush. Also, carefully brush off any algae from the insides of the tank. Try not to miss any part of the tropical fish tank as you are scrubbing.

You can now refill the tank with some tap water. It is important to make sure that the water is lukewarm or tepid. Add some water dechlorinator to get the right balance for your fish. You will have to wait a few minutes until the dechlorinator is properly mixed.

Reconnect all the electrical items and leave everything on for about an hour to ensure things are working smoothly.
