How to Fix a Ball Type Faucet

Faucet problems are common, but fortunately, they are easy to fix. Replacement parts for faucet repair are usually quite inexpensive and readily available. If a badly worn faucet continues to leak even after you make attempts to repair it, replacing it with a new model is the best option. The ingenious design used in modern faucet allows these fixtures to provide years of trouble-free service. A good quality faucet set may last longer than any other element in your bathroom or kitchen.

A ball type faucet has a single handle and is identified by the Hollow metal or plastic ball inside the faucet body. Many Baltic faucets have a rounded with curled edges located under the handle. If you’re faucet leaks from the spout and has this type of, first try tightening the with groove joint pliers. If tightening does not fix the leak, disassemble the faucet and install replacement parts. Replace the rotating ball only if it is obviously worn or scratched. Materials needed:

Ball type faucet repair kit
you rotating ball (if required)
masking tape
O-rings
heat proof grease

Instructions

    Loosen the handle screw set with an Allen wrench. Remove the handle to expose the faucet.

    Remove the cap with groove joint pliers. To prevent scratches to the shiny chrome finish, wrapped masking tape around the jaws of the pliers.

    Lift up the faucet cam, cam washer and the rotating ball. Check the ball for signs of wear.

    Reaching to the faucet with a screwdriver and remove the old springs and neoprene valve seats.

    Remove the spout by twisting it upwards, and then cut off the old O-rings. Coat the new O-rings with heat proof grease, and install. Reattach the spout, pressing downwards until the collar rests on the plastic slip ring. Install the new springs and valve seats.

    Insert the ball, you cam washer and cam. A small lug on the cam should fit into the notch on the faucet body. Screw the cap onto the faucet and reattach the handle.
