How to Stop Your Nose From Bleeding

Nosebleeds, at times, can be dangerous. If you lose a lot of blood, you might faint. Therefore, it’s vital that whenever you are experiencing a nose bleed, you instantly treat it so that you can stop your nose from bleeding and there are no problems later on. Nosebleeds occur due to broken blood vessels inside your nose. Children between two to ten years old commonly bleed from their nose because they have weaker vessels. These vessels break because of dryness, crusty mucus membranes, trauma to the nose or if there is a certain disease. Most nosebleeds will simply stop if they are not treated but in order to make them stop quickly, you will have to work your way.

Instructions

  • 1

Start off by pinching your nose between your thumb and forefinger. Keep applying moderate amount of pressure and squeeze against the nasal. Do this for at least 15 minutes.

  • 2

In order to prevent a feeling of gagging, put your head forward. People mostly put their heads back and that is a common mistake. Just so that the blood does not flow down your throat, put your head forward and look down.

  • 3

If you believe you are running out of breath, start breathing through your mouth.

  • 4

You need to get yourself a cold and soft compress. Apply it around your nose while you pinch it between your thumb and forefinger.

  • 5

Once you can see that the bleeding has stopped and the blood is not flowing out, it’s time for you to elevate your head above your heart while you lie on the bed or on the couch. This is going to help you ease the nasal pressure.

  • 6

Once your head is up, try to turn on a cool vaporizer in order to moisten the mucus membranes. This will prevent your nose from bleeding again.

  • 7

Once you have applied the cool vaporizer, it’s time for you to apply petroleum jelly around your nose. Since the bleeding has stooped, you can even apply petroleum jelly inside the nostrils. This will moisten the passages and prevent your nose from bleeding again. Try to use your fingertip in order to apply petroleum jelly inside the nostrils.

Don’t blow your nose for up to the next 24 hours. If you believe it is necessary then blow gently.

Try not to be involved in strenuous activities and don’t lift heavy weight for the next day. Study reveals that this will make your blood pressure high and there are chances that your nose might bleed again.
