Clean Your Dishwasher with Kool-Aid

One or two envelopes of Lemonade Kool-Aid
The dishwasher is one of those things that many people don’t often think to clean. Sure, they wipe down the outside of it to get rid of fingerprints, but that’s about it. Your dishwasher can get stains, though, from washing coffee cups, tea glasses, and other things that are known for staining. Some people see the stains, close the dishwasher door, and forget about them. Others simply don’t notice the stains. But have a look and you’ll see that your dishwasher probably has stains. It won’t, though, when you give it a thorough cleaning. Don’t worry; you don’t have to set apart a day to scrub while on your knees. You can easily clean your dishwasher by simply running it through a complete cycle. When you use Kool-Aid instead of dishwasher detergent, you get rid of stains and have a dishwasher that smells great.
Kool-Aid comes in many colors/flavors, such as blueberry, cherry, and watermelon. But most flavors and colors are not the best choices for getting the stains out of your dishwasher. Citric Kool-Aid, such as Lemonade, will work, though. The citric acid is just the thing for scrubbing those stains without any effort. Purchase one or two envelopes of the Lemonade Kool-Aid. Large envelopes of Kool-Aid contain sugar and that is not the type that you need for cleaning your dishwasher. Instead, use the kind that comes in a small, flat envelope.
Open the Kool-Aid envelope and pour the contents into the compartment of your dishwasher that holds the soap. It’s optional to open a second envelope and use it in the compartment where a second measure of detergent can go. Close the door on the machine and run it as you normally do. If you’ve used one envelope, run it on a regular cycle; if you’ve used two envelopes, run it on a longer cycle.
You’ll be amazed at how well the Lemonade Kool-Aid works as a cleaner for the inside of your dishwasher, the racks, and the silverware holder. You’ll also love the fresh, clean scent inside the machine when you open it. Something similar can be done to rid a clothes washer from odors.
Few people think about cleaning the inside of the dishwasher – especially with drink mix – but go ahead and give it a try. You’ll be hooked on the process and you’ll want to do it once a month, or so. Now, instead of being assaulted with the remaining smells inside the machine, you can open it up to lemony freshness.
