Fabric Refresher Spray

What you’ll need:
Eighth-cup of liquid fabric softener
Two tablespoons of baking soda
Hot water
Spray bottle

What is it about an aroma that can change the way you feel? Smelling apple pie can make you feel like you’re a young child at home again. The smell of a dryer sheet, tumbling around in the machine, can make you feel comfortable and warm. So, even if you haven’t done any cleaning on a particular day, but people are coming over, the aroma in your home can make visitors feel like your home is welcoming and clean. You’ll definitely relax your guests, and make your family feel even more special, when you create your own fabric refresher. Similar to Febreze, the fabric refresher can give curtains, carpet, upholstery, and clothing, a fresh, clean smell.

Okay, I don’t have the rights to the famous Febreze recipe but I do know what makes a home smell fantastic. When you combine certain products in a spray bottle you’ll have something that works like Febreze but has a different aroma. Since Febreze can be five bucks a bottle – or more – you’ll see that you’ll save a lot of money when you make your own fabric refresher.

Use your old Febreze bottle, or another spray bottle, to mix a couple of things. Pour in an eighth of a cup of liquid fabric softener. Add two tablespoons of baking soda and then fill the remainder of the bottle up with hot water. Shake well to dissolve the baking soda, allow the liquid to settle, and use it when you need it.

Liquid fabric softener now comes in more than one fragrance so you can create the fabric refresher that you love. The baking soda adds no smell at all so the finished aroma is a lighter version of the fabric softener. If you want, you can add a couple of drops of essential oil, but make sure that its fragrance blends well with the scent of the fabric softener.

If you’ve ever used Febreze you probably already know the many ways that it can freshen your home and your world. It can give your furniture a fresh scent, remove smoke smells from fabric, give your carpet a welcoming aroma, and make stuffed animals smell clean. Use it on your linens, towels, pillows, clothing, and anything cloth. Keep one in the living room, the laundry room, your bedroom, and in other rooms of your home.
