Easy Ways to Remove Non-Slip Stickers from a Bathtub
Whether they are peeled away or come off on their own, non-slip stickers leave behind dirty looking glue residue. It seems to meld with the tub, but it is not difficult to remove when using the right products and tools. Forget about using abrasive cleaners. They do not work. The surface of the bathtub will come off before the adhesive does. I found a few easy ways to remove non-slip stickers from my mother’s bathtub, and they worked without rubbing my fingers raw or damaging her bathtub in the process.
Use a Hairdryer to Soften the Glue Residue Before Scraping it Away
After peeling away old non-slip stickers from the bottom of a bathtub, the glue will likely remain. When trying to remove it, begin by softening the glue residue with a hairdryer. For safety reasons, the bathtub should be dry when using a hairdryer in an attempt to soften the glue. Before it has a chance to cool and harden, use a plastic putty knife or a nylon spatula to safely and effectively scrape it away.
Try Goo Gone to Remove the Leftover Mess
If a hairdryer and scraping tool does not work to remove the glue left behind in a bathtub by non-slip stickers, buy a bottle of Goo Gone. It is a fantastic product that really works to remove adhesive and other sticky messes. It even works on old adhesive that has solidified and melded with a bathtub. Apply it according to product directions. After removing the non-slip stickers from the bathtub, you should be able to simply wipe the adhesive away after letting the product soak in and break down the mess.
Safely Scrub the Bathtub with a Cornmeal and Baking Soda Mixture
If you would rather not use a chemical product to remove the adhesive left behind from non-slip stickers, try a safe and natural cleanser. Combine equal parts of cornmeal and baking soda, and use it to scrub the bathtub instead of harsh cleanser. It is far better than baking soda alone, and it can work to completely remove the remaining glue.
