Montgomery County, Texas Recycling Complex
The Recycling Center is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers a quick and easy sorting process. Proof of Montgomery County residency is required to drop off items here. Below are items accepted for recycling:
Aluminum beverage and some food cans are accepted. These need to be rinsed out first. Bring your cardboard and paperboard cereal, cracker, corrugated boxes, and paper cores. Glass jars and bottles are also acceptable. Only clear, brown, and blue varieties, rinsed, without lids can be taken. Do not bring window panes, drinking glasses, or ceramic or pyrex. Mixed metal such as tin cans and miscellaneous metal can be donated as well. Junk mail, magazines, office paper, and newspaper can be recycled here. Have lots of number 1 & 2 plastic containers? Check your containers by turning them over and looking for the number in the triangle and rinse them. Bring your yard trimmings, leaves, and limbs. Old appliances and clothing are taken as well. Antifreeze, batteries, motor oil, and tires can be recyled at our complex. Tires require a nominal disposal fee as do electronics, residential home improvement, wood & miscellaneous landfill items, and reusable latex paint.
Have leftover household chemicals you want to get rid of? Check out the Household Chemical Waste Building that accepts donations every Wednesday and 3rd Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. – to 5 p.m. Cost is just $5 per 5 gallons of material. Household and Personal Items accepted are cleaners and polishers, degreasers, drain cleaners, flourscent light bulbs, and pharmaceuticals. Outdoor & Gardening items include pool chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. Various paint products accepted include oil based paint, stains and varnishes, spray paint, turpentine and solvents, and craft and hobby chemicals. Items not accepted are ammunition, explosives, medical waste, radioactive materials, smoke detectors, PCBs, dioxins, and business generated waste.
The Montgomery County ReUse Center conserves resources by managing surplus materials in a sound and ecomical way. Free to residents and non-profits in Montgomery County, reusable household products are collected at the Household Chemical Waste Facility. Items approved for reuse include household cleansers and solvents, paint (latex, oil-based, and turpentine), garden products (herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers), pool chemicals, and remixed paint.
