Free Places to Visit in St. Louis

Just because you’re going on a trip to St. Louis, Mo., doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot of your hard-earned cash. In fact, if you play your cards right, you may be able to visit multiple great tourist spots for little or no money.

The following is a list of the best free places to visit in St. Louis.

1. The St. Louis Zoo is completely free to visit, and can be a blast for the entire family. Over 19,000 animals call the zoo home, and about 3,000,000 people visit the zoo throughout the year. In total, the zoo has 655 species of animals, and several of them rare or endangered species. Honestly, how many places are there left in the country where you can visit lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!) for free all at the same location?

2. The St. Louis Science Center is another free spot worth checking out. The free general admission to the park covers access to the multiple exhibition spaces. This is a spot where the whole family can learn and also be entertained. There are some extras you may want to pay for, like the OMNIMAX® Theater and the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, but you can still have an awesome trip without even having to visit these elements of the center. In all honesty, you could easily spend an entire day in the center and still have not seen all of the free exhibits they have to offer.

3. The Anheuser Busch Brewery offers free tours every day of the week. If you go on a tour, you can visit the famous Budweiser Clydesdales, check out the brewing and bottling area, and then get free samples of some of AB’s best products! All in all, this makes for a great St. Louis stop-off.

4. The Gateway Arch should be on everyone’s list of places to visit if they’re in St. Louis. Did you know the arch is actually the nation’s tallest monument, standing at an impressive 630 feet? For a small fee, you can pay to go to the very top of the arch. It’s definitely worth it, but if you don’t want to pay, you’ll still be amazed even with standing at the bottom of the enormous structure!
