How to Make a Liquor or Wine Bottle Lamp

I’m all about recycling and upcycling things, so when I see a cool idea on how to make what would normally be trash into something awesome I have to try it. Liquor bottle lamps are pretty cool and cheap to make. They can become great gifts for anyone for any occasion. Fun for kids rooms and man caves, perfect little night lights or bed side light. For a kid’s room, you can decoupage different photos that you have printed off your printer. So if your kids are into Barbie or Transformers at the moment, you can print off a bunch of pictures from the internet and cut them out and decoupage to the bottles or you could use stickers. Same for man cave ideas, print off images of favorite sports teams.

The first thing you need to do to make a lamp out of a liquor bottle is to get an empty liquor bottle, a clear glass bottle works best, and clean it inside and out. Remove all labels and glue. Allow bottle to dry. Next drill a hole in the back of the bottle towards the bottom for the lights to be threaded through it. I use a Dremel tool to drill my holes. Then thread the lights through the hole in the bottle and pull the end of the lights up through the neck and out the top. Hot glue the strand of lights to the inside of the bottle cap. Allow the glue to cool and set then put the cap on the bottle. Decorate the bottle with stickers, decoupage images on it, embellishments, etc. Allow to dry if necessary and then plug in the lamp and admire your work.

Liquor bottle lights are great for baby’s rooms because they give off just enough light to see around the room but not to disturb the baby’s sleep. Great for kids and adult rooms as well. Would make great decorations for the holidays. For example, for Christmas, make a bottle with each letter of Christmas on it decorated and embellished. Set the bottles out all in a row to spell out Christmas and light them up. If you use the multi-colored Christmas 20 count lights it would look spectacular or you could use the 20 count strand of white lights. Remember you can find the 20 count strands of lights usually during the holidays, Halloween you can find orange, black, green and purple and during the Christmas season you can find the lights in multi-color, white, red, green or clear. Think outside the box, if you are doing a sports themed bottle for a man cave and your team is Illini then buy orange lights during Halloween season.
