How to Beat the Effects of Aging

Quality of life is not dependent on age . We can be unhealthy and out of balance at any age.

There are choices we can make and decisions to be made that affect the way we age. It is important to get the assistance that we need, be as strong as we can, be active in life, and enjoy the adventure. Being a Senior, is another cycle. It has mystery, learning. growing, opportunity and challenge built in. More and more aging is being associated with mental dysfunction. Hearing of, or knowing someone with Alzeimher’s has become a common story. No longer growing into the wise elder naturally, but short circuiting pre-maturally. We are being challenged to address this dilemna. What might be done?

One thing we can be in charge of is our attitude. Are we sharing the wisdom of our experiences? As the elders of society, we have had many experiences. Seen many conclusion, resolutions, paths that led to something significant, one’s that didn’t. Don’t believe that as a group, and individually, that we don’t have value. We most definetely do. The Elders have traditionally been the keepers of wisdom. The ones that people go to for guidance and information. Make yourself available to add what you have to offer, to others. It is a gift that we can give. It is important that we recognize the need for Elders in our society. If we don’t, it is a great loss.

There are other things that we can do to help ourselves be the best that we can be: To do what we can to stay active and alert. Are we choosing the path to being a wise Elder? Are we contributing to our well-being? What can we do to help ourselves to stay more mentally alert? Here are some suggestions that deal with these issues:

WATER

We need to keep the fluids moving through our body, for flexibility, mobility, and general health. Our brain and mind ceases to function well if it cannot get what it needs. Water carries nutrients to the brain. .. Think desert .. It is also a conductor of energy. It keeps the sparks flying from cell to cell. Bringing life.

Purified is best, take out those toxic metals. Especially Aluminum. Studies directly link it to Alzheimer’s Disease.

NUTRIENTS

Chlorphyll

To be healthy we need to fuel the parts. Chlorophyll is the fastest way to build red blood cells. It also enriches the blood which goes to all parts of our body. The richer the blood the healthier the cells. The same way that the quality of gasoline for our car, greatly affects the performance. Cells need to have the energy to send messages to one another. When it doesn’t, disease can set in. Chlorophyll helps all our cells to function well, so they can do their job.

Chlorophyll can be found in all green foods. Asparagus, bell peppers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, green cabbage, celery, collard greens, green beans, green peas, kale, leeks, green olives, parsley, romaine lettuce, sea vegetables, spinach, Swiss chard, and turnip greens are concentrated sources of chlorophyll. Don’t overcook, as it can dimish the quality of the chlorophyll.

It is also available as a supplement. Micro algae is an excellant source.of chlorophyll and more. It is easily and readily available at your local health food store, or check it out on-line.

Specifically for mind function, we need to get energy to the brain. This is an anti-gravitational challenge. Sometimes it takes some special attention to cross the ‘blood brain barrier’.

Oxygen
Is very important. Breathe deeply and take the air to the brain. Often
Oxygen can be found as a supplement, called anti-oxidants. Good sources are Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Micro algaes, etc.

There are herbs like GinkoBiloba that help by improving memory and cognitive function … it also protects membranes from oxidation and maintains healthy circulation, which brings our fuel to us.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant,, It brings oxygen to the cells. We need oxygen for life. It also has been shown to lower blood pressure. High blood pressure restricts the passage of nutrients to our cells.

Foods that are rich in Vitamin C are broccoli, strawberries, citrus fruits, green peppers, brussel sprouts, honey dew and cantaloupe. Organically grown is best.

Ascorbic Acid is available as a supplement. It can also be found with Bioflavanoids, which is the Vitamin C Complex, as found in Nature.

SOIL

The quality of our soil is not the same as our great-grandparents. Poor farming practices, pollution, pesticides, climate changes have all taken their toll. Much is being done to replenish our earth. We have become more aware, organic farming is a growth business, and better laws are being passed. We may want to consider if we need to supplement our food consumption with vitamins and minerals, if the soil our food is growing in is deficient. Because we may be full, but not necessarily nourished.

ALZHEIMER’S

Alzheimer’s is a disorder that affects the brain. Brain cells are damaged that are respnsible for memory, intelligence, judgment and speech. Sympoms that are noticeable are: trouble performing tasks, poor judgement. misplacing things, can’t think or understand, not remembering things and gradual changes in behavior.

About 4 million people in the United States suffer from Alzheimer’s.
