Although the fundraiser originally scheduled for New Orleans Oct. 11th before the hurricane came to pass will not be able to go forth, there will be a fundraising event anyway coordinated within the Yappy Hour to help Katrina pets in that area. The event was originally scheduled to take place at the Hotel Monaco benefiting the Humane Society of New Orleans.
“We at Animal Fair are truly devastated about the amount of people and animals who are suffering,” said Animal Fair staff.
In a letter dated Sept. 1st Dana Nesbitt, president of the Humane Society in New Orleans told the magazine that her staff was set up adjacent to an animal sanctuary in Tyler Town without water and that they were in desperate need of funds and support.
Nesbitt said she had to get herself to a better situation in the interim and that like many residents there she was temporarily homeless and without resources, having fled her home.
“This is really a horrible situation,” said Nesbitt.
