Elvis Presley’s Graceland Mansion in Memphis
Graceland Mansion was turned into a museum after Elvis’ death. Priscilla decided to open the Mansion up to the public to help offset the cost of the many bills of the Graceland Mansion. And also provide a place for Elvis’ many fans to get a glimpse of the life Elvis lived.
Just outside the ticket office is a shuttle to take guests across Elvis Presley Boulevard to enter Elvis’ fourteen-acre estate. With the new digital audio guide featuring the voices of Elvis and Lisa Marie Presley, guests enjoy a terrifically produced audio guide presentation and even more information on specific exhibits and items of interest.
The tour of the Graceland Mansion consists of the living room, music room, Elvis’ parent’s bedroom, kitchen, dining room, TV room, pool room and the Jungle den in the main house. Behind the house you can see Elvis’ racquetball building and his original business office.
They have recently opened a section of the Mansion previously closed to the public. The tour now includes never seen before items such as an extensive collection of his stage costumes.
During the tour you can also see Elvis’ trophy building which has his enormous collection of gold records and awards along with a huge display of career mementos, jewelry, photographs and a lot more.
The tour ends with a quiet visit to the Meditation Garden where Elvis and members of his family have been laid to rest. A shuttle returns guests to the Plaza. The tour lasts approximately 60-90 minutes.
Admission is 22$ for adults, $19.80 for Seniors 62 and over, $7 for children aged 7-12 and children 6 and under are free.
Located at the South end of the Plaza is a green Cadillac convertible which marks the entrance. Guests walk down a landscaped tree lined highway past colorful exhibits of vehicles owned and enjoyed by Elvis Presley. Included is his famous 1955 pink Cadillac, 1956 purple Cadillac convertible, 1973 Stutz Blackhawk and much more. The tour is self guided and self paced. Admissions is $8 for adults, $7.20 for seniors 62 and over, $4 for children 7-12 and children 6 and under are free.
Located at the North End of the Plaza is a recreation of an airport terminal with a video on the history of planes. Guests will stop outside and take a look at the small Hound Dog 2 Lockheed Jet Star Plane. And then walk about the large customized Lisa Marie Jet which Elvis named after his daughter. This tour is $7 for adults, $6.30 for seniors aged 62 and over, $3.50 for children 7-12 and free for children 6 and under.
There is all this and much more to see at Graceland. Graceland hours of operation are seven days a week year round. However the mansion tour is closed on Tuesdays from November to February while other attractions remain open. All attractions are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
