Best Places for Coffee and Free Wi-fi in Seattle

In Seattle, great coffee is an institution. But what makes a great cafe even better is if I can bring my laptop, and work while I enjoy my espresso or french roast. These Seattle cafes, located sporadically thoughout the city, offer a great cup, as well as a free wireless connection:

Mr. Spots Chair House, (Ballard): cool eclectic atmosphere, plenty of seating, and great organic roasts, as well as a huge selection of teas. They serve delicious Morning Glory Chai. There’s usually a musician on the in-house stage, so it’s not a great place to do actual work in the evening. But it is a good place to relax, catch a good band, and catch up on overdue emails. And it’s now open until 2 AM Thursday-Saturday. 5663 Leary Ave. NW, Seattle WA 98107 (206) 297-2424

Java Jazz (Ballard): the atmosphere is a little bland, but this place makes a killer mexican mocha, and fresh croissants. It’s never that crowded, so you can usually get a nice table for yourself, and it’s a quiet place to study. 5905 15th Ave. SW, Seattle, WA 98107 (206) 706-0772

Chocolati Cafe (Green Lake & Greenwood locations): cute, European atmosphere, and some of the richest hot cocoas and mochas you’ll ever taste- they use the real melted chocolate. Nibble on delicious and dainty sweets while you’re trying to build up the energy to finish an assignment. Greenlake: 7810 E. Greenlake Way N, Seattle WA 98103 (206) 527-5464

Zeitgeist Coffee (Pioneer Square): They only accept cash, so bring enough for one of their delicious sandwiches, or fresh pastries. The coffee is strong (Illy brand,) and the counter seating is great to set up your computer on. The atmosphere is fantastic: artsy and eclectic. 171 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98101 (206) 583-0497

Online Coffee Co. (Capital Hill, Downtown locations): Bring your laptop in for free wi-fi, or use one of the in-house computers. There is plentry of seating in both, and the Cafe Vita coffee is amazing. Capital Hill: 1720 E. Olive Way, Seattle, WA 98102 (206) 328-3731; Downtown: 1111 1st Ave. Seattle, WA 98101 (206) 381-1911

Elliot Bay Book Co. (Pioneer Square, cafe in the basement of the store): Come here for a cheap bite on your lunch break, and for a cup of organic roast. If you can’t stop working, bring work with you: the entire place is wired, and it’s a large space. The bookish atmosphere will contribute to your productivity. 101 South Main, Seattle, WA 98104 (206) 624-6600

These are just a few to name, but some of the favorites that I found in my effort to find the perfect combo of espresso and wi-fi. There are plenty of others that are wired in different neighborhoods. Leave it to Seattle to make coffee as accessible as possible.
