Best Hotels in Bossier City

Cross the Texas Street Bridge from Shreveport into Bossier City, Louisiana and you’ll find many more lodging choices. As soon as you cross the bridge – maybe even before – you will see the newer casinos and casino hotels. These are just a few of the hotels, motels, and tourist cabins available on the eastern side of the Red River. Blame it on Barksdale Air Force Base – when the airmen and women get leave, they fill the hotels and so do their families who come to visit. My parents came from the area and I visit the Twin Cities on the Red River often. That’s why I have some personal reccommendations to make about lodging in Bossier City.

If you want some very luxurious lodging in a beautiful setting with every ammenity, choose the Isle of Capri Casino and Hotel. This place soars twelve stories tall and has everything. Rooms are very comfortable and have everything you could want. If you see something you need, just ask. Not only will you stay in a fine hotel but you’ll be on hand to gamble, for fine dining, or other pleasure pursuits. The cost is $100, sometimes more, but if you can afford the price, this is a fantastic place to stay and play. You’ll find the Isle of Capri along the riverfront at 711 Capri Boulevard. Call for additional information or reservations 318-678-7777.

Now if your budget doesn’t run to luxury hotels, there are many other places to stay. The newest – and one of my personal favorites – is the Microtel Inn and Suites at 2713 Village Lane. Their phone number is 318-742-7882. This hotel is located just off Airline Drive and has four stories with interior hallways. It can be a little tricky to navigate the drive between some other businesses but this Microtel is one of the nicest I’ve stayed in. Rooms are huge, beds are comfortable, and everything is clean. There are many restaurants nearby and I can personally reccommend one that is down the street. Darrell’s offers good old-fashioned food, Louisiana style. Breakfast is available any time of day and they offer great short order sandwiches like patty melts. They also have daily specials like rice and gravy, chicken fried steak, etc.

Now if I’m not flush enough to stay at the Isle of Capri but I don’t want to stay at the Microtel or it’s booked full, there’s still another option before I have to bunk down at Uncle Denny’s. That is the Best Western Airline Motor Inn at 1984 Airline Drive. It’s located about a block south of the busiest intersection in Bossier City – the corner of Texas Street and Airline Drive. Rooms are pretty standard with exterior corridors but it is still very nice. They do offer a valet laundry service and transportation to the casinos for guests. They also have a small game room just off the lobby. The staff here will also take you out to the race track if you want. There is not a restaurant but they do offer a free continental breakfast every morning off the lobby. If you are a swimmer, they do have an outdoor pool. Get details or make reservations by calling 318-742-6000. The location is the best – close to everything you might want to do or see in Bossier City and if you want to head for Shreveport, take a left on Texas Street.

These are my favorite hotels in Bossier City. I’ll also recommend a few restaurants besides Darrell’s. Ralph and Kacoo’s on Old Minden Road serves up regional seafood dishes. At the Isle of Capri, don’t miss Jack Binion’s Steak House. The steaks are great and so is the seafood. If you want simpler fare, try Backyard Burgers on Airline Drive or try Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits. If you have time, get up early and drive out Texas Street until you’re almost out of Bossier City. Look for Southern Maid Donuts. The place is small but they’ve been serving up their hot, delicious donuts for more than fifty years in both Bossier City and Shreveport. If you’re early, the donuts are hot and fresh. During the rest of the day they still have donuts but they also serve up burgers and a few other things.

Enjoy your stay in Bossier City – it’s my home away from home!
