Choose From These Tacoma Hotels and Have a Pleasant Stay

Tacoma, Washington has earned a reputation somehow for not being a very interesting city for tourists. Nearby Seattle typically attracts the bulk of visitors. But Tacoma has a ton of activities, and has become a much nicer place to visit in recent history. Dale Chihuly’s museum of Glass is a not-to-be-missed sight, and the Tacoma Dome attracts concerts, shows, and events like rodeos, which you won’t find in Seattle. Try one of the following hotels during your Tacoma stay.

This is Tacoma’s largest downtown hotel. It is frequented by businesspersons, and is attached to the Tacoma Convention Center. The hotel is 26 stories, with an Italian restaurant on the very top floor. Some rooms have nice views of Mount Rainier. All rooms are at least medium sized, with large beds, air-conditioning, a coffee maker, a minibar, a hairdryer, and an iron and ironing board. Laundry and dry-cleaning service is available, and valet parking is about $15/day. You can get rooms that include more amenities such as turndown service, continental breakfast, and a paper if you reserve on one of the concierge floors- which increases your rate, of course. The hotel boasts an exercise room and a business center, and pets are accepted. This is really more of a business hotel, and remains busy throughout the year. Several museums are located nearby., including the impressive Tacoma Art Museum, and the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection.

This hotel caters to the more economical traveler, who still likes to be in the heart of things. There are all the modern conveniences: king sized beds, TV with cable, continental breakfast, and appliances such as a coffee maker, hairdryer, and an iron. The hotel features a Jacuzzi, and the location is great, with easy access to the freeway, the Tacoma Dome, The World Trade Center, and the local casino just across from the hotel. Make sure to check out one of Tacoma’s gems: Port Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, which is located just about 10 miles from here. It is not to be missed!

This is a nice hotel with easy access to all that Tacoma as to offer. It is a very family oriented hotel, where children can stay free, and cribs are available. The front desk is open 24 hours a day, and express check out is available. Rooms are spacious and well decorated, with king sized beds, and maid service. Cable television and work space is provided in each room, and there is free parking. A business center is located onsite, as is a restaurant and lounge, a swimming pool, and meeting rooms. This seven floor hotel comes equipped with an elevator and physically disabled services. Pets are allowed. The Tacoma Dome is blocks away, and museums are great tourist stops. Check out the Natural History museum.

Want to venture away from the standard hotels? Try this 1889 Grand Victorian Inn, which is on the national registry of historical places. These is a perfect retreat for those on a second honeymoon, or wanting to escape the bustles of downtown. Set high above the city amid roves of old trees, the Inn boasts beautiful bay views, but is still in close proximity to downtown shops, theatres, and antique stories. The landscape gardening of the grounds is exquisite (and one of the region’s first examples of landscaping!) The inn features original wood and stained glass, and is considered one of the most romantic inns in the Pacific Northwest- maybe it’s the chocolates on the pillow. Or the roomy Jacuzzis. Or the fireplace, and the wonderful privacy.
