Lasertag is a game that is loved by many of the Star Trek generation. If you happen to fall into the company of this group, you to may be a trekkie.
In North Raleigh there are three places that one can satisfy the craving for an opportunity to get the adrenaline rush.
Frankie’s is a new amusement center in North Raleigh just off Highway 70, near the Durham county line. Frankie’s is the newest amusement park in Raleigh. It is part of a South Carolina chain, with three South Carolina amusement locations.
The Laser Tag Arena at Frankie’s is just one of more than a dozen key amusements in the very modern and compact park.
I have been assured that the lasers are safe. Unlike on Star Trek, they set the lasers so that they will just let you know you’ve been hit.
Family and friends, any who do not want to play, can view your bravery as you take on the imaginary threat to the world.
In addition to Lasertag, you can choose from numerous attractions at Frankie’s. Attractions like miniature golf, go karts, bumper boats and the batting cage. There are at least a dozen significant attractions to choose from.
Frankie’s has a large selection of arcade games. You can dance, shoot the bad guys, play cards, bowl (small balls), gamble (with tokens), play air hockey, race a car, shoot basketballs and many other arcade games.
There is also a restaurant with a menu the goes on and on. The menu even includes a family style selection for groups greater than four. You can re-energize and heal your wounded ego or gloat as the case may be. If you come here with a corporate group, you’ll probably find that you can’t wait to bring family back for the amusements. There is just so much to do at Frankie’s.

Pirate’s Cove Lasertag brags it has a 5,500 square foot arena for its participants.
To play you have to be at least seven years of age. (Six years old with the manager’s permission)
Games are seven minutes long.
The lasertag has a pirate theme.
Adventure landing is a long time amusement center in Raleigh. It is one of nine owned by Adventure Landings of Jacksonville, Florida.
Should lasertag not fit your or someone in your party this theme part has plenty of other amusements. It is on par with small amusement parks like Frankie’s. First built when the area around it was less developed, it is a dated park in some ways, constrained by build up area around it. It is never the less, one of the most popular sites for those with children.
Discounts are available for members of the armed services and for seniors. Currently the park is raising funds for the Red Cross earmarked for Katrina victims.
You can get pizza and other foods at the park. The food is limited compared with Frankie’s. A large number of good eating establishments can be found within a two or three block drive from the Adventure Landing.

Battlezone Lasertag
Opened in 1994 Battlezone Lasertag is very proud to have a 5000 square foot, two level lasertag arena.
This is the place for the dedicated Lasertag person. The person that wants a game that lasts for more than a few minutes. Individual games can vary from 12 to 15 minutes. But the people who frequent this Lasertag arena are much more likely to be members and to be there for quite a bit longer.
The Battlezone is one of 168 locations listed around the world. Sixty of these are listed in the United States. Australia has the second largest number of zone arenas.
Unlike the other lasertag places in Raleigh, this is likely to be frequented by members with sharply developed laser tag skills.
If you are a person who really wants the experience the lasertag environment, this would be the right choice. You can count on being part of the experience.
Each game starts with you paying and then by suiting up in a vest that will keep count for of how skilled you are. The vest will come in red, yellow or blue depending on the team you are on. The arena will be ready with appropriate music for the mood. There is fog and lasers just to make sure you stay on your toes. On entering for the next twelve to fifteen minutes it is up to you and your team. After the battle is fought, you will know who the better man or woman is.
If this really gets your adrenaline pumping, you can become a member and get a price break every time you have the urge to test your skills.
In addition to the Laser Arena, the Battlezone has an Xbox game room and arcade games. These are likely to be frequented by youthful personalities that are fast on the keypads and quick with games.
Being in a grocery store mall, there is plenty of parking. Just as the doors are opening at 4 PM is one time that might be crowded as numbers of young men and women seek entry to save the world, or at least their team members.
