Work for Foodtemps

FOODTEMPS was founded in 1986 by experienced retail professionals who offer a complete line of promotion, marketing, and consulting services for specialty food and house wares companies. These services include merchandising, retail promotion, special event and show coordination, and sales and demonstration program development.

FOODTEMPS demonstrates kitchenware hard goods and food. Gourmet food preparation imparts a positive image. Demonstrators give off good delicious aromas of gourmet foods. The end result of such demonstrations is usually an increase in Sales for items on display in the department stores and conventions. Increases in Point of Sale purchases.

Usually retailers who want to increase hard-goods sales consider using well trained demonstrators. Knowledge of the product and the ability to relate to customers is imperative. In order to compete in today’s house wares market, demonstrators need to be bright, outgoing, food oriented individuals.

FOODTEMPS has matched approximately a dozen different appliances with more than 20 specialty food items for demonstration. The pay is $10.00 an hour. A great place to work part-time for extra cash. Once you have agreed to work with FOODTEMPS they will send you an apron and bow tie and a food tray. Obtaining and accepting an assignment is relatively easy – you must call FOODTEMPS at the beginning of the week to give your week’s schedule in order to obtain an assignment for the weekend.

Demonstrators attire: FOODTEMPS’ Signature Look consist of a white formal tuxedo shirt or white dress shirt with a collar, black skirt or slacks, and a black bow tie; flat black comfortable shoes(closed toe) and a FOODTEMPS badge.

In a product sampling demonstration you are using the food to attract the customers as you work toward achieving your goal of selling the product.. At certain times products are better promoted by using a hand held tray.

Although the demonstration is occurring in the department store, you are ultimately responsible for making the demonstration happen. You must leave yourself enough time to locate your contact person and scout out your demonstration area and product.

Once a demonstration is complete, one should send in a completed report form (which are mailed to you) with hours and any feedback and comments. If you have any questions, please call the FOODTEMPS office. This is the perfect time to schedule your next assignment.
