They offer substance abuse treatment and detox as well as an in-patient support group. Many times on Saturdays a few members of a local recovery group will bring a meeting to patients there. Meetings last one hour. This residential, in-patient facility is short-term treatment (30 days or less depending on your insurance these days). They also offer outpatient, partial hospitalization/day treatment. In addition there are special programs and groups in the form of those persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders. Self payment, Medicaid, Medicare, private health insurance, and military insurance are accepted.

Women’s and men’s groups are available and self payment is accepted. There is a sliding fee scale based on income and other factors.

Salvation Army First Choice of Fort Worth is located at 1855 East Lancaster Avenue after moving from Hemphill Street in the old Gladney building. This is a residential long-term treatment center for pregnant/post partum women, and women with residential beds for clients’ children. Payment is self-pay. ASL or other assistance for hearing impaired is also available. A friend of mine worked there for a year or two as a program assistant and found it to be very rewarding seeing the women get educated, find a job, and move out on their own with their children, starting their life over.
