Quality Private School Education in Arlington, Texas

Children’s University (CU) was founded in 1995 by Lynn Kenner, following her dream of quality education offered to students at competitive rates. The school offers not only a standard curriculum, but also a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Included in this expansive list are Spanish, guitar, choir, string instruments, chess club and Destination Imagination (DI).

The school is proud of the fact that its students consistently score in the 99th percentile on the Iowa standardized tests, and are, on average, a year ahead of their counter-parts in public schools. This shows that the children are being taught well in the traditional subjects. They are also receiving a well-rounded, choice-based, series of classes that the children enjoy taking part in. Children’s University is often referred to as “The Teacher’s School,” because it is where teachers who want to pay for private school send their children.

In the pre-school and kindergarten classes, each room represents an unique habitat. Underground, grasslands, forests, jungles, oceans, etc. The list is long and informative. Each habitat room provides information about that particular area to the students, providing a good background for general education about the world around them.

In the 1st and 2nd grade rooms, the themes are socially and culturally related. Each room focuses on a country, its customs, costumes and current events. The children in this area are very well informed about the world around them.

The upper-classmates, 3rd-6th graders, enjoy a recently constructed building in the style of a castle. The library is in the Great Hall, which has a domed ceiling, stunning murals on the ceiling and walls, as well as beautiful antiques for the children to enjoy. There are even suits of armor standing at attention for the passersby to admire. The classrooms here are less theme-related, and more general in decoration, allowing the children to focus more on their school work than on their surroundings.

Most of these things are cosmetic, but they add to the feeling of the school, which is one of learning and having fun in a nurturing environment. The overall impression the school leaves one with is one of quality education, and the dedication of the staff to instill a love of learning in the children that will last their whole lives.
