Medieval Times Clash with Reality at New Jersey Theme Park

I have been too many places rich in history and interaction like museums and galleries. But none of them are anything like Mideival Times, a place tht really brings you back to a period in time in world culture. A time when kings and Queens ruled and knights and lords had power over serfs. Mideival Times is more than a history lesson; it is an interaction culminated with an exciting show that really truly shows people what mideivil times were like.

Located in the metro area in New York New Jersey, Mideival Times is a huge place filled with exciting exhibits. The tickets for the place are seperated by the exhibits and a great show that you must attend if you go to Mideival Times. Starting with the exhibits, you actually get to see the machines that were used to torture people and models of the castles that lords and knights live in.

You get to see the tools that serfs used on farms and the armor that knights wore in battle. Everything in mideival times looks like the time period including the people and tour guides. If you go in a group, a tour guide will show you al lthe exhibits and give you information on everything. Under each exhibit, there is information on it such as the purpose of a torture device and how it worked. Just the exhibits alone are wrothwhile the trip.

But, the interactive knight show is by far the best show I have ever seen. When you walk into a room covered by red curtian your eyes will be stunned in disbelief. The room you walk into is no ordinary room. It is a Giant circular room that is surrounding by stands that people sit in. The stands go all the way around a circular stage arena. When you sit down you are treated like a king, literally.

Every person is given a crown to wear and sits down at a table and chair overlooking the stage. You are given food that is also similar to the time period. You are given soup is a weird bowl but since utensils were not invented yet you have to drink the soup out of the bowl. You are also given soda and the main meal is potatoes, chicken and beef, all of which you eat with your hands. The food is really quite good.

Now onto the show. The stage arena is giagantic and initially filled with smoke. When the sho starts, several men dressed as knights appear and walk out on horses. Each knight is dressed in a unique color that corresponds to the section you are sitting. The knight that represents your section you cheer on as loud as possible. For example, if your section is colored red, ou cheer for the red knight. The ceremony is conducted by a king and Queen who sit perched above the stage. As the knights walk out, they are followed by men who assist the knights and carry weapons. The king reads out a storyline of a contest to see which knight is the best and most fiersome competitor. Each knight must face off against each other in a duel with weapons. Swords, axes, and shields are used.

As the first knights come out, the each attack each other on horseback with long poles, trying to knock the other man off his horse. Of course the entire fighting scenes are stages but it makes no difference. The fighting scenes are intense and so exciting. You will see that the entire audience will be jumping out of their seats in excitement, cheering on their knight to win the duel. As btoh men get off heir horses, they grap a weapon and fight each other. The knights exchange blows, protecting themselves with shields and jump out of the way. All kinds of wepaons are used and the intense fight last several minutes. When one knight is pronounced the victor, he faces off against the winner of the next duel until one knight is crowned the champion.

I loved every minute of the duels and they really simulated the fight scenes during that time period. The announcers are great as they make everyone rise out of teir chair to feel excited about the fight.

I highly recommend that you visit Mideival Times. It is an interactive history experience that you won’t ever forget. It is fun and thrilling and takes up an entire day.
