Wedding Guestbook Ideas

It’s your wedding day and you’ve got everyone that means anything to you there in one place, sharing their time and their best wishes for your marriage. Of course you want a special way to remember this moment, and for every couple there is a solution that fits your lifestyle, home and relationship. Here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling with your wedding guestbook:

âÂ?¢The Guest Book – now you could just pick one up at the local craft supply store or the wedding dress shop, or you can make it something more meaningful.

oGet a Polaroid camera and some film and have your guestbook attendant take pictures of your guests as they arrive at the reception. While it drys, have them write a message in the book you’ll keep them in. American Bridal sells a special book for this purpose, but it can be done for much less money with a scrapbook album and photo corners.
oHave pre-printed forms for people to fill out with their wishes for your new life together. Have crayons or markers available and let them illustrate their interpretation of the day – you’re likely to get some that will be wonderful conversation pieces at future gatherings.
o Purchase a coffee table book about the place you met or love and have your guests sign it and write their wishes right on the pages and photographs.
o Purchase a new family bible and have your guests sign the inside and outside covers with their very own blessings for your marriage.
oHang tags from the craft store or leaf cut outs and hang them from a decorative plant or tree to resemble leaves. Have your guests choose a leaf and write their well wishes on it and hang it back up. Collect them at the end of the evening and place them in a scrapbook, or create a collage to be framed in your home.

âÂ?¢A wedding guestbook doesn’t have to be a book per se, it can be anything you’d like it to be – Find something that is unique to your relationship. Here are some ideas:

oa silver platter with an etching pen.
oa football with your college’s logo.
oa bottle of wine or champagne at room temperature can be signed with a paint pen made for glass.
oMaybe you’re both teachers – make a mini blackboard and have your guests leave their wishes on it.
oA T-shirt from the band whose concert you met at.
oSomething else personal that will further connect your guests to your wedding day and your future married life.

âÂ?¢A photo mat is always a popular option for a wedding guest book as well – what better way to keep the memories of your first day as husband and wife in your minds and hearts than to hang their well wishes in your new home. Aaron Brothers and other frame stores have a variety of mats that work well for this purpose, with plenty of area for your guests to write on. You don’t have to necessarily use your engagement picture for this frame either:

oHave your photographer take a group shot of you and all of your wedding guests to put in the frame.
oFrame a detail shot from your wedding, such as a close up of your bouquet flowers.
oTake a print or lithograph of a favorite photograph or piece of art and frame it.
oCreate a collage of the day or your relationship that fits in the frame.

The possibilities are endless – if you can write on it, it can be used as a wedding guestbook. Whatever you choose, make it memorable and something personal. This will help your guests feel more incorporated into your wedding and your relationship. The guest book or item is a way to remind you of the wonderful people that surrounded you on your wedding day, wishing you all the best in your new life together for years to come.
