Destination Weddings in Ohio’s Hocking Hills

If you live in or near Ohio and you’re dreaming of a destination wedding, you don’t have to consider flying to Vegas or driving down to Gatlinburg. You have a perfect location nearby that is growing in popularity – the Hocking Hills area in southeastern Ohio. The Hocking Hills is a perfect location for a destination wedding. If your family and friends live nearby, they won’t require a lot of time and money to attend the wedding (no airline tickets to buy!), and there are enough activities in the Hocking Hills area to make the downtime fun. There are a wide variety of chapels, reception halls, and outdoor locations to make your big day exactly how you want it, whether you plan to elope or have a large celebration. Best of all, many places offer complete wedding and reception packages that are friendly to your wallet, and take a lot of the work off your hands.

Romantic Resorts, Inns, and Manors

Hocking Hills Resort can arrange a ceremony and reception for two to two hundred people. Outdoor ceremonies can be held at their garden site, the gazebo site, or the outdoor chapel. As for the reception, a smaller room for thirty people is available and there is a larger reception hall inside the chapel (which is also the ceremony location in case of rain). An outdoor reception can also be arranged under a tent. Catering is done by their on-site restaurant, the Grouse Nest. They can even make honeymoon arrangements and provide lodgings for the wedding party and guests.

For an outdoor wedding at a beautiful southern-style manor, consider a Georgian Manner, a bed and breakfast which overlooks beautiful Lake Logan. The wedding can be held in various locations on the estate, with exclusive use of the manor. For smaller ceremonies, the wedding can be held inside the manor in your choice of three different rooms: fireside in the Civil War library, The French Music Room (which overlooks the lake), and the Grecian Room (which also overlooks the lake). Wedding packages cover everything from elopements to 125 guests.

Glenlaurel Inn in Rockbridge is a Scottish manor house overlooking Camusfearna Gorge. They specialize in Celtic themed weddings and have a variety of packages offering the use of the inn or an outdoor ceremony at their wooded amphitheater and a covered, open-air reception. Glenlaurel can accommodate up to 200 guests for the ceremony and reception, and fifty overnight.

Crockett’s Run is a resort with various lodges and cabins where you can have a beautiful outdoor wedding in a variety of settings. Dave’s Gathering Place is their rustic reception hall, which can accommodate 180 people and includes a bar, a kitchen, a stage, and two fireplaces. They also have a staff that can help plan all the details of the wedding.

Traditional Locales

The Hocking Hills Wedding Chapel is a beautiful log chapel and gazebo. You can get married in either the gazebo or the chapel (each holds 75 people), and the reception will be in the other building. Valley View Cabins are nearby for guests, wedding party, and the bride and groom. The wedding chapel offers a variety of packages, with on-site catering. You can customize everything to your specifications.

The Olde Dutch Restaurant in Logan, located in the Rempel’s Grove complex, can provide wedding and reception packages, along with reservations at the nearby AmeriHost Inn for your guests. They have several banquet rooms to accommodate any size party, from twenty to 250, and will customize your reception menu to meet your needs, from simple appetizers to gourmet dinners. They also have a gift shop and bakery so your guests can take home something special. The Rempel’s Grove complex provides additional entertainment, such as an antique mall, a craft mall, adventure golf, and a canoe livery, so your guests will have plenty to do before and after the wedding festivities.

A Medieval Matrimonial Celebration

For a medieval-themed wedding, Ravenwood Castle in New Plymouth may be just the unique setting you are looking for. Surrounded by Wayne National Forest, the castle provides a beautiful backdrop for a wedding celebration, and provides several rooms, cottages, and rustic “gypsy wagons” for guests who need to stay overnight. Weddings can be held indoors in the Great Hall or outdoors. They can help you plan parts of your wedding, or you can do everything yourself and rent out their Pavilion in the Woods facility, which is an amphitheater with a private parking lot, four picnic tables to set up your food, and restroom facilities.

No Decorations Necessary

If you want to get married within Hocking Hills State Park, you must acquire special permission from the park manager. Perfect locations for the ceremony include: Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, and either the upper or lower falls of Old Man’s Cave, which is perhaps the most famous site within the park. With such a stunning backdrop for your ceremony, you can be spared the expense of decorations. Of course, these locations are easier for smaller weddings.

Most of these establishments that do not have florists, photographers, or cake bakers on site can also recommend them to you, in addition to hair stylists. If they do not have an officiant available, they are usually happy to help you with that as well. They all specialize in helping you have the wedding that you want, so don’t be afraid to ask them for anything.

The Hocking Hills is a charming, romantic location for a destination wedding. With a choice of locations scattered around hills, lakes, and gorges, you can have a picture-perfect wedding that you and your guests will remember forever. The wide range of packages and price ranges makes planning a Hocking Hills wedding stress-free, as most of the work will be done for you. And best of all, you get to relax in a romantic cabin or lodge with your new spouse at the end of the day, while your guests can enjoy the natural wonders of the Hocking Hills area. What could be more perfect?
