An Overview of the BBC Television Shows Schedule
News
BBC World News – A more global look at news around the world. Things you often don’t see on American Networks.
Naughty
Footballer’s Wives – The show where “everyone plays dirty.” If you like prime time soaps that go full tilt, give this one a look.
Mystery/Crime
Mystery Monday – Starting Monday night at 9:00 pm Eastern time, be prepared to walk on the dark side of the street with programming such as “Wire In The Blood” and “Messiah.” Robson Green is an excellent actor.
Murder Prevention Unit – This group works to stop crimes before they occur. New series, just getting started
Comedy
The Kumars At No. 42 – Interesting approach to the talk show interview with plenty of unexpected dialogue.
My Family – Droll, dysfunctional and filled with dry British humor.
Unusual – The Underground begins weeknights at 11:00 pm, then runs until 1:00 am Eastern Time and features shows such as:
Creature Comforts – features animal themed claymation series from the makers of Wallace & Gromit
Little Britian – freak show for sure, raunchy humor.
Ed and Spencer – two best friends compete against each other in pointless challenges such as “Who can stay handcuffed the longest?”
Vintage
The Avengers – Emma Peel (Diana Rigg, as far as I’m concerned the only female lead that mattered on the show), at the height of the good-looking tuff girls shows, joins suave John Steed to solve sometimes bizarre crimes. These two tout the ideal of the ever-cool Brit, no matter what the circumstance. Some call them the original Scully and Mulder.
The Benny Hill Show – lewd, lascivious and slap stick funny.
DIY
House Invaders – Unlike trading spaces, the House Invaders go into a single home and invoke change with what they find in the house, the tool shed, the garden or wherever. A bit more challenging and interesting to see “sow’s ears become silk purses.”
What Not To Wear – Susannah Constantine and Trinny Woodall pick the most in need fashion flops to put on the road to fashion flips.
Whichever show you choose to satisfy your taste for England, be sure to check out the BBC America website on a regular basis or sign up to be email notified of contests and new shows. Oh, and don’t forget that Monty Pythons Flying Circus is a BBC staple. Episode DVD’s are available through the website. “And now for something totally differentâÂ?¦”
