Five Ways to Spice Up Missionary Position Sex

For many heterosexual couples, the missionary position is still the preferred method of having sex. For couples that frequently experiment, the missionary position can provide a comfortable stand-by at the end of a long day. No matter how you like it, chances are the missionary position is not a thing of the past. Here some ways to make sex in the missionary position more exciting for both of you.

1. Put a pillow under the woman’s butt.

If you haven’t heard this technique before, now’s the time to give it a try. Placing a pillow under the woman’s butt will lift her pelvis and change the angle of penetration. Fans of missionary position sex will find that the pillow under the woman allows the penis to penetrate much more fully and deeply for an incredibly erotic experience. Long, slow thrusts work incredibly well with the woman’s pelvis lifted higher than during normal missionary position sex. The only drawback to this technique is that the woman will find her range of motion limited, so the man will probably end up doing most of the “work.”

2. Dress it up with sexy boots.

Missionary position sex doesn’t have to feel tame; in fact, a pair of knee-high boots can make it feel downright kinky. With the woman wearing sexy boots, the man gets to feel the leather pressing against him while he’s on top. The woman also gets the added benefit of feeling like a rock star with her boot-clad legs wrapped around her man. Be wary of wearing anything with a stiletto heel in the missionary position, though, because unfortunate accidents can happen.

If boots aren’t you’re thing, try thigh-high stockings with a sensual texture, or knee socks and Mary Janes for a schoolgirl look.

3. Use a little lubrication.

You may have used a personal lubricant for sex before, but you probably haven’t tried this. During foreplay, rub a bit of your personal lubricant on your partner’s chest and abdomen. Have your partner do the same for you. When you assume the missionary position, you’ll create a really fun slip-and-slide effect. And you’ll have a great excuse to hop in the shower together afterward!

If you and your partner use condoms, make sure you choose a water-based lubricant like Astroglide or Eros, even if you aren’t putting it directly in the genital area. An oil-based lubricant on your hands will compromise the structural integrity of your condom when you put it on. Not only that, but lubing up your bodies for missionary position sex gets really messy, and you don’t want to take any chances.

4. Adapt to the climate.

Whether it’s 110 degrees or 55 degrees in your bedroom, you can use missionary position sex as a great excuse to battle the climate. If it’s super-cold outside, pull a heavy blanket over you and your partner and do it under the confines of the blanket. Things will heat up pretty quickly in the dark!

If it’s really hot outside, place some crushed ice on the woman’s stomach before assuming the missionary position. While you have sex, the ice will cool you and then melt, providing some relief from the heat and a nice wet treat for you both.

5. Watch the action.

Everyone’s got some sort of voyeuristic instinct. How neat would it be to watch yourself? While in the missionary position, the man can lift up with his arms to create a space between partners. Both of you should be able to watch the penetration.

For an extra dose of voyeuristic fun, hang a mirror by your bed so you can watch yourselves having sex. This works well in the missionary position, because both partners should be able to turn their heads to see the action.
