Management The act, manner, or practice of managing; handling, supervision, or control: management of a crisis; management of factory workers.
The person or persons who control or direct a business or other enterprise.
Skill in managing; executive ability.
Supervisor one that directs or oversees a person, group, department, organization, or operation; specifically : the popularly elected chief administrative official of a township or other subdivision in some states of the U.S.
Production line n : mechanical system in a factory whereby an article is conveyed through sites at which successive operations are performed on it
HACCP Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (FDA program)

Product development n : improving an existing product or developing new kinds of products
Research & development Development of new and improved products
Advertising The activity of attracting public attention to a product or business, as by paid announcements in the print, broadcast, or electronic media. The business of designing and writing advertisements.
Display case merchandising placing products in a display case to be sold
Lighting A source of light, especially a lamp, a lantern, or an electric lighting fixture
Something, such as a window, that admits illumination
Food-borne illness An illness contracted from bad or contaminated food
Marketing A public gathering held for buying and selling merchandise. A place where goods are offered for sale. A store or shop that sells a particular type of merchandise
The business of buying and selling a specified commodity
Market share The proportion of industry sales of a good or service that is controlled by a company
Product positioning Where and how products are displayed
Wholesale cut Bigger cuts that are not usually ready for the consumer
Retail cut smaller cuts of meat that are ready for the consumer
Merchandising To buy and sell (goods). To promote the sale of, as by advertising or display

Federal inspection inspected products can be sold all over the country
Quality control A system for ensuring the maintenance of proper standards in manufactured goods.
Loss leader A commodity offered especially by a retail store at cost or below cost to attract customers.
Labeling To attach a label to. To identify or designate with a label; describe or classify
Nutritional value The amount of digestable nutrients in a food product
Profit margin The relationship of gross profits to net sales in a business. Net sales are determined by subtracting returns and allowances from gross sales, whereupon the cost of goods sold is then subtracted from net sales to obtain gross profit. Gross profit is divided by net sales to obtain the profit margin. This is an excellent indicator of a firm’s operating efficiency, its pricing policies, and its ability to remain competitive.
Unit pricing The pricing of goods on the basis of cost per unit of measure
Break-even point The point, especially the level of sales of a good or service, at which the return on investment is exactly equal to the amount invested. The point at which the energy put into a system is equalled by the energy produced by that system
Ingredient An element in a mixture or compound
Community service/involvement Services volunteered by individuals or an organization to benefit a community or its institutions. Similar work performed by law offenders to serve a sentence in lieu of or in addition to jail time.

Wholesale firm Sells in buld to retail firms
Retail firm Sells products directly to consumers
Point of sale (POS) A business or place where a product or service can be purchased
Merger The act or an instance of merging; union. The union of two or more commercial interests or corporations. Law. The absorption of a lesser estate, liability, right, action, or offense into a greater one
Acquisition The act of acquiring. Something acquired or gained:
OSHA Occupational Safety & Health Administration (US government)
Bait and switch A sales tactic in which a bargain-priced item is used to attract customers who are then encouraged to purchase a more expensive similar item.
Family pack Large package of retail cuts; usually sold at a lower price
Demographics The characteristics of human populations and population segments, especially when used to identify consumer markets
Recall To ask or order to return. To summon back to awareness of or concern with the subject or situation at hand. To remember; recollect. To cancel, take back, or revoke. To bring back; restore. To request return (of a product) to the manufacturer, as for necessary repairs or adjustments

“Damage control” Act of fixing or quieting a problem
Public relations officer Deals with the media

Value-added product Something is added to increase the value of the product

Mechanically-deboned meat (MDM) Meat that is cut off the bone by a machine other than a person
Consumer education The amount of information that a consumer has aquired about a product

Cover letter A letter sent with other documents to explain more fully or provide more information.

Dark cutting meat Meat that is darker than normal because of stress to the animal before death
Muscle contraction & relaxation contraction: a shortening or tensing of a part or organ (especially of a muscle or muscle fiber)
relaxation: The lengthening of inactive muscle or muscle fibers
Meat tenderness Easily crushed or bruised; fragile: a tender petal.
Easily chewed or cut: tender beef.
Taste panel A group of people assembled to test taste a product
1. Inspector Person who looks at a product to insure quality
2.Quality Refers to a combination of traits that provide for an edible product
3.Marbeling The visible flecks of fat interspread throughout the lean
4.cost per serving of lean Calculated by dividing the price per pound by the number of servings of lean per pound
5.Packing Plant Place where animals are killed and processed
