How to Get Tickets to the Oscars

Sure you could try making it to the Oscars the old-fashioned way by landing a role in a great movie, giving the performance of your life and becoming a media darling. But that could take years!

Now there’s an easier way for you to make it to the Oscars….

Apply to be a seatfiller!

Seatfillers are the people who literally “fill a seat” for no-shows or when a celebrity steps away from their seat. Seatfiller.com accepts applications for all sorts of award shows, including the Oscars.

Simply apply online, then send in a resume, cover letter and photo (I’m being completely serious here). I guess they want to make sure you’re not some 400 lb. guy who lost half his face in a fire or something.

If you’re chosen, they’ll give you almost no notice, no guarantee of admittance to the show, no guarantee of which seat you’ll be in and under no circumstances will you be allowed to talk with the celebrities (unless they speak to you first.) Good times!

Register to win a spot in the bleachers!

Would you rather catch the red-capet action? Win one of the 600 bleacher spots given away to the public every year by registering at oscars.org in September.

This new online registratation is a lot better than the old system in which fans had to camp out on the street for days in advance. That was nixed after 9/11 and the Oscar’s move from the Shrine Auditorium to the Kodak Theatre.

But hurry, registration is only open for about a week in September, so don’t miss your chance!

So if thought the Oscars were only for big-shot celebrities, well, you might be right. If you’re not an Academy member, then your chances of actually getting inside to the see the award show is…. pretty much non-existent. Although, this hasn’t stopped people from trying.

In the past, people have purchased scalped tickets for as much as $30,000 – $40,000. The Academy keeps a close eye on ticket reselling, so even if you manage to score tickets, your chances of being allowed to enter aren’t good.

But good luck and I’ll see you at the Oscars!
