Most articles take a group and give you information of the group as a whole forgetting the group is comprised of individuals who are different in many ways. In this article I am going to give you information to get to know each individual as the person they are and then cover ‘the group’.

Gary LeVox’s given name is Gary Wayne Vernon Jr. He was born in Columbus Ohio on July 10th, 1970 at Ohio Riverside Hospital. He graduated from Olentangy High School. He married his wife Tara on May 15, 1999, they have two daughters. His first job was working on a horse farm.

Not to long after that Jay convinced his cousin Gary LeVox to move to Nashville and sing. At the time Jay was Chely Wright’s band leader.

Joe Don Rooney was born on September 13, 1975 in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He grew up in Picher, Oklahoma. Rooney attended Picher-Cardin High School and 2 years at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. In January of 1998, Joe got a call from Preston Stanfill, Chely Wright’s drummer. He had seen Joe perform in the family show called the Ozark Mountain Hoe Down and was wondering if he would be interested in playing acoustic guitar and singing back-up vocals in Chely’s band. Joe was ready and on his way in an hour.

Then the group now known as Rascal Flatts was about to start taking shape. The group came together when second cousins Demarcus and Levox asked Rooney to sit in as a substitute guitar player at a Printer’s Alley gig in Nashville Tn. The rest is history. After landing a record deal with Lyric Street Records, Rascal Flatts recorded a mix of country, pop and R&B, the trio’s debut self-titled album. “Prayin’ for Daylight” became the group’s first smash single. “This Everyday Love” soon followed. The group has had great success ever since and has these accomplishments and much more to their name
