Great Websites for Crafters with Free Patterns and Projects

Do you love crafts? Many people do. Often the biggest challenge a crafter has is coming up with new patterns for crafting because they love crafting so much that they are creating items so quickly!

This website has lots of crafting ideas for year-round enjoyment. Be sure to check out their holiday crafts sections – Valentine’s Day, Easter Crafts, Halloween, Christmas Crafts and Holiday Crafts (which includes most other holidays). You’ll find decorations, cards, crafts for kids, decorations and other ideas to make your holiday extra special. There are also special sections dedicated to different types of crafting – like Rubber Stamping, Needlework, Nature Crafts, Garden Crafts, Quilting and Woodworking. This website also has a community – there is a message board, a newsletter and arts & crafts auctions to check out. A great site!

This crafter’s website offers lots of ideas for you to create fun crafts for the home and as gifts. There is a great section on Candle making and Candle Crafts. There is also a nice section on Seasonal and Holiday Crafts. For some unique housewarming gifts – check out Homemade Gifts. The website also has holiday sections – Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Seasonal and Holiday Crafts. There are also kid’s crafts at this website. Great knitting, crochet and sewing patterns, with how-to sections that are perfect for someone who is getting started or wants to learn some new techniques. There is so much to find at this website!

At this website you will find 1000’s of craft patterns as well as a learning center to teach you about crafts. The Learning Center has lessons in crafts such as Crochet, Knitting, Decoupage, Beading, Rug Braiding, Stenciling, Embroidery and Painting. There are free projects and free patterns at this website. Find patterns and projects on topics such as holidays (Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween and Fourth of July), Cross Stitch, Kid’s Crafts, Quilting, Victorian style crafts, Angel crafts and Country crafts. There is also a forum to meet with other crafters. This is an extensive website.

This is the patterns section of Craft Site Directory, a very large website. This is actually their directory of other websites that list patterns, and it is a very, very long list, about four pages long. There are literally thousands of patterns of every type you could imagine in here. The website does indicate that some of the websites do charge for some of the patterns, so just read what is indicated at each website. A number of the websites listed do say that their patterns or projects are free, or are at no charge. Even though some of them do charge for patterns, lots are free and are certainly worth checking out.

This website does not list patterns or projects but it is certainly worth mentioning. It lists free crafting software that may be of interest. There is a cross stitch chart and a fabric calculator for knitters. There is also graph paper for knitters. There are two great sock programs – one is called the Perl Sock Program which creates instructions to make a classic crew sock, the other is The Sock Calculator and when you enter some measurements it will give you instructions to make machine or hand-knit socks.
