Delsea Drive-In Theater
It is a must see for anyone who ever loved the drive in, or wished they could have experienced the thrill of being there. Delsea Drive-In is just the place for you and your family to have a relaxed night out, a date night with a special someone, a night away for the parents, or a chill night for you and your friends.
Whatever the reason, Delsea Drive-In Theatre exceeds your needs. Admission is only $6 for adults and $3 for children. That low price includes two full length new feature films. There is a concession stand with an array of foods to suit the pallet, from peanut butter and jelly for the kids, to a juicy hamburger for the men, atkins diet choices for those watching their waist, to the traditional candy, soda, and popcorn. The concession stand also cells novelty items like glo sticks and lighted yo-yos to entertain and amaze. You can bring in your own food, at the extra expense of $7. It is, in my opinion, much more prudent to just buy something there.
Delsea Drive-In is sure to please with it’s huge screen and 700 car capacity lot. There are port-a-potties that look like stalls taken from the cleanest malls in all of the United States. I’m sure the ladies will appreciate that. The ground is dirt so the chances of being attacked by renegade insects is slim to none.
The sound at the drive-in is piped directly into your car. You just tune to a special station on your radio and enjoy. It gives you the benefit of having surround sound and making you feel as though you are inside the movie. Delsea-Drive In Theatre also has a great community spirit about it. People are friendly even if they don’t know your name. It is a safe, secure outting for anyone with a family. No chance of the children getting lost in the bathroom or running too far away in a huge theater. There isn’t the hassle of standing in line waiting for tickets.
The ticket booth opens at 6:30 pm. I suggest you get there earlier. The line begins to form pretty quickly and you don’t want to be turned away. Delsea Drive-In Theatre shows two films. The first starts around 8:30pm and the second around 10:30pm. You would expect to leave the theater by 1 am. If you are hungry again, there are a few places that will still be open to cater to your late night needs.
Denny’s is just down the road and is open 24 hours. Right next door is Wendy’s where there is a late night drive-thru window. Either way, you will have a nice place to go to top off your night.
Delsea Drive-In is generally open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. You can check their movie listings, ratings, and times on their website. There you can find directions, the phone number, and a mailing list sign up link.
Don’t pass up on going out to the theater in New Jersey. Delsea Drive-In is sure to please.
I myself hadn’t been there since it closed. The last movie they played was the original Batman movie. That was when they had just introduced the new technology of radio beams into your car for sound. Before that, you had to utilize the speakers outside the windows and hope that yours had a bit of quality. The new system was just being introduced for that special night. I have been back since it was open and saw Alien vs. Predator. It was an awesome experience. It took me back to that family night that we all decided to go to the drive-in and have quality fun time. I highly recommend you all go and create memories of your own.
