Amazing Hotels in Downtown Charleston, South Carolina

Suddenly you have found yourself in Charleston, South Carolina. This location in the beautiful south is well known around the entire country. For instance, there is a dance named after this beautifully elegant city. When one thinks about Charleston, many images suddenly swarm one’s mind. Some of these images can be that of the twenties and “flapper” girls running around, with constant smiles across their faces, and their eyes full of wonderment of the new century. It is this wonderment that Charleston has begun to surround itself with. One step into this magnificent city, and you are suddenly and completely wrapped in southern hospitality as well as a little mystery. It is these two combinations that the cities hotels begin to embrace. Well, I have done the grunt work of trying to find some of the greatest hotels in Charleston to stay at, and have reviewed the top three of them for you. Now sit back, relax, and let the proverbial “flapper” girls usher you to your next destinationâÂ?¦your hotel room.

The first hotel in which I reviewed is the Wentworth Mansion. This historic hotel is set in Downtown Charleston, and is showcased with hand-carved fireplaces, mahogany, oak, and ornate plasterwork. And this is merely the beginning of the wonderment that is the Wentworth Mansion. This four-and-a-half star hotel was built in 1885 – 1887 by Francis Silas Rodgers, in the vain of the Second Empire era, thus it is outfitted with some of the most opulent and vibrant designs and dÃ?©cor known to the southeast – or even the world. This hotel features a lounge, the Harleston Lounge to be exact, and it is in this place that guests can come and relax in the afternoon for a quite atmosphere with is very nice for the casual reader, or writer. There is also a sun porch for those lovely southern summer days, make sure to wear some type of insect repellant. Various other amenities included are banquet facilities, complimentary wireless Internet access, as well as a day spa offering massages and a variety of different treatments. This four-floor mansion-hotel is outfitted with 21 rooms. All of the accommodations offer sleigh beds and two-person spa tubs. The European-style designed woodwork is absolutely amazing. Every aspect of this hotel is meant to make you feel as pampered as Scarlett from Gone With The Wind.

The second hotel in which I reviewed is the HarbourView Inn. This hotel is built as a brick warehouse in the 1880s and was converted to a hotel in 1998. This hotel attracts both business travelers and families. This is due to the hotels tranquil ambience and with its waterfront location in historic Charleston’s fine-dining-restaurant district, the HarbourView is absolutely perfect to calm ones nerves before a major job interview, or to calm and relax your bustling family. Some of the various amenities that the HarbourView Inn offers its guests is the Continental breakfast, evening wine and cheese, after-dark cookies and milk, and 24-hour coffee and tea service, all of which is complimentary to all guests. This five story hotel offers 52 guestrooms, and most of which contain skylights. These extra long rooms feature four-poster beds in warm-wood tones, granite bathroom vanities, high white ceilings, white matelasse bedspreads, and terry-cloth bathrobes. High speed Internet is available at a surcharge, as well as dial-up.

And the last hotel in which I reviewed is the Wild Dunes Resort. This four-star hotel also has vacation villa rentals as well. This hotel is seated on 2.5 miles of beach, resting on two golf courses, and has many various swimming pools, tennis courts, and bicycling paths. Families and couples can enjoy this 1,600-acre residential/resort community during all seasons. The resort includes 20 heated swimming pools – yes you read me right, twenty (2-0), one in each villa complex, a toddlers’ pool, and a 90-foot, six-lane lap pool at the sports pavilion, and the tennis center consists of 17 courts. So it is obvious, that the Wild Dunes Resort is made for those travelers who enjoy being relaxingly-active. Have kids, and need a break? No problem, the hotel offers supervised children’s activities, so the adults can really play. The Wild Dunes Resort offers one, two, and three-bedroom villas in two – five story building with elevators. They also offer 93 guestrooms at the Boardwalk Inn, a five-story building with yellow wood siding.
